Question

Posted

I have tried searching the forums and keep getting conflicting answers so I thought I would ask for myself, is Reflex Guard any good? I am trying to get a better survival build and not sure if the 55% parry chance worth the amount of credits/cores are worth it.

Thanks for any info.

It can activate even if you don't have melee equipped. It will also keep blocking as long as the enemy keeps firing at you, even if you run out of stamina.

Basically a god mode to one direction but as pointed out, will also prevent you from shooting.

It'll drop your outgoing DPS by forcing you to spin or melee to deactivate it before you can shoot.

That said, it'll allow you to block without equipping melee, giving you a huge chunk of survivability. The best part is, you'll keep blocking infinitely, even when out of stamina, making it a little overpowered as a defensive mod.

I like using it at a smaller %; I use it at 10 or 25% even tho I have a 55% version. This makes it more likely to activate when I'm taking a lot of fire, which is when I need it the most, and its not as likely to activate on single shots hitting me, disrupting my ability to return fire.

You have to have a melee weapon equipped for it to work, and it won't work over Iron Skin.

Coupled with Reflection it can actually be a decent source of damage at very high levels.

How good it is for you depends on two things.

-How much you use your melee weapon. It's seamless when you're meleeing, but it can be a pain when you're shooting.

-What Warframe you use. Some creative use of powers can make it easier to use your primary and secondary. For instance, I like using Reflex Guard on Volt because I can pop Electric Shield whenever I need to shoot.

My Reflex Guard is not high enough ranked currently (prioritizing other R10 mods first) to vouch for this personally, but many people recommend Reflex Guard for Anti-Matter drop users along with a bow. Bow retains it's charge (supposedly) when blocking and can be fire using quick melee. Being able to tank damage while you guide your Dread-charged AMD bomb into the enemies is really important.

For most guns, it will just be an annoyance. It's a very niche mod, but extremely powerful when used well. I've tried it out a little bit at Rank 4-5ish and it requires a LARGE playstyle adjustment to what most players are used to.
