ref92
For those of us unaware, this is what happens when warframe falls too long a distance-it automatically rolls forward, taking away all control from the player. It's not exactly a large problem, but it does somewhat reduce combat flow. It can be countered by starting a slide mid-air, but that is a workaround, not a solution. My suggestions are simple and easy to implement.First and foremost, allow us to control direction of the roll. Whichever direction I move my camera, warframe follows even mid-roll. That is the most simple solution available that would remove the main issue of auto roll-being a nuisance. If I can at least direct my roll away from enemy fire lanes or from that endless pit of doom instant teleport, I will be at least a bit more happy.Secondly, allow us to perform certain combos during rolls (manual rolling included). If I press 'Fire' button mid-roll, frame could perform a fancy transition animation firing a blast immediately after rolling. Melee weapons could get varying animations as well, or a simple non-weapon specific head-butt or tackle. That would allow us to take a relatively useless move that only adds visual appeal and transform it into an actual combat maneuver. Of course, charged/detonating/continuous weapons such as bows/ogris/penta/synapse would be unable to perform a 'snapshot'.P.S. this was brought on by demonstration of new valkyr ultimate-it seems that even after simple straight jump (spinning forward a-la sonic animation) she performs auto-roll now. It may or may not be true for final hysteria 2.0 release, but it got me thinking. Regardless of final implementation, all issues with auto-roll are still valid. Thank you for attention. BrotherIcarus
But you can control the direction of the roll by what way you are moving. Move backwards and you will roll backwards.
ref92
But you can control the direction of the roll by what way you are moving. Move backwards and you will roll backwards. Not what I meant. Allow me to clarify-once you started rolling, you're rolling in one direction. I suggest let us change direction mid-roll. I'm already in an animation, but instead of getting stuck for about a meter or two in one direction, I can turn around and change where I'm headed. CBAROG
Yes. All of my yes. I hate that auto roll.
(PSN)TheRedZephyr
DO AN AUTO-ROLL!...No? Well, I tried. Anyway, "Yes" is all I have to say. Alternatively, set the required fall and forward velocity for auto higher so we don't chain-roll off of ledges. Or, just disable auto-roll and make it executable just before hitting the ground. Pbrandon1
What's worse is that they are gonna make it U14 where when Valkyr jumps while in Hysteria, she will auto roll when she hits the ground. When I saw that, I thought of the amount of people who hate auto-roll and gave suggestions to fixes for it that were just given the finger. (PSN)IIIDevoidIII
If you disable sprint before you hit the ground, you have less of a chance of rolling. But yes, auto rolling sucks, I'd rather be "crouch hitting" the ground and suffer a movement speed penalty for half a second than have to roll. The slide is second nature to me now, so it'll marginally affect me.
FalsePride
agreed, i've fallen off platforms way too much with this feature.
