Desamos Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I think it would be really cool if our dojos were breached by infestation every once in a while, and as a clan, we'd have to search the ship and kill all the infestation before they reproduce and cause more chaos. Maybe this could be an event or something once in a while.
The-Ancient Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I think in recent devstream they stated that making "Tom's room" (or however was it called(that one which spawned mobs)) inside dojo would prove problematic. Making a dojo event seems even more unlikely.
Rofie Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) I still think a VR room with obstacle/mobspawn presets would be cooler Or an event in which you can opt in for offense and/or defense and let other groups of tenno breach into your dojo (or vice-versa) for some conclave-ish pvp, having them progressively disable access to some useful areas by capturing/sabotaging reactors EDIT: about the infestation, doubt all clan members would like to have their dojos filled with infestation (especially with the mutalist ospreys running rampant), sounds like something that would be best applied as an opt-in mission type rather than an override for the safe dojo we like Edited June 22, 2014 by Roflord
Orbister Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 yes, i would love to go "clean" my dojo, we could receive a warning in our inbox or something that starts the "mission" similar to Terraria's Blood Moon.
[DE]Momaw Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Not if you remember to take off your shoes before you enter the dojo. What, you thought that was just a silly tradition?
(PSN)Bobtm0 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I can't say I like this idea. A clan hall is intended as both a place for gathering and a place to use group sourcing to acquire specialty gear. Having a tacked on "invasion" would just a problematic nuisance or a huge problem given that it would be effectively impossible to scale for properly. If the infested are low level so that weaker clan members don't get ripped to shreds infinitely, powerful clan members will steamroll such an invasion while yawning at how pointless it is. If it's filled with powerful foes the weaker members of a given clan can't contribute to jack squat aside from making a pile of their own corpses in the oracle room.

I see your point, but I meant this to be an event, not an everyday dream job. It happens once in a while, and you take care of it as a team. After that, they can contribute and do whatever they want, knowing their dojo is secured until the next event like this happens (which can be in months, or weeks, or maybe days).

After that, they can contribute and do whatever they want, knowing their dojo is secured until the next event like this happens (which can be in months, or weeks, or maybe days). I guess I just see it as a chore rather than an event. The events that we do get are interesting in that they introduce some bits of a semblance of a story, as well as introducing new tilesets or new variations of gameplay. If the events were instead only "kill things because reasons" they'd be nothing more than normal missions. So, at the end of the day I'm only seeing this posed idea as an in the way forced exterminate mission so that I can actually use my clan properly. Since we can't have a large number of players simultaneously fighting (as has been noted in the devstream) these situations would be relegated to smaller groups within the clan. Making it just feel like an annoyance rather than some interesting twist. From where I'm coming from, co-Warlord of a two man Ghost Clan where the other member is currently on hiatus, all I see is a chore blocking me from research. When I try to put myself in the shoes of someone in a larger clan I'm not seeing much of a benefit still. Due to technical limitations it wouldn't feel like a massive group effort to clear out a clan hall, just a normal mission that uses your clan hall as its tileset. There's a reason why we don't randomly have our access to the foundry/market just locked out occasionally. Such instances force you to deal with them when you may have wanted to accomplish something else entirely. Now if this game ever got to a point where dedicated servers were a thing, it'd allow for some pretty gnarly encounters and I'd be all for this suggestion. Despite still being an outlier due to the type of clan I'm in.
CapinHands Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I Understand the idea of the OP. This is a great idea for a clan based event, something the warlord can purchase and then place as a condition over the dojo for an hour or two. It not only makes a great sink for resources, credit and/or platinium, but can be scaled by the purchase,(easy, medium, hard). You could go further and place it as a research project in the Bio Lab, which allows the Dojo members to decide the progress of the project and difficulty. This event is not really for mod or item drops it would revolve around bragginf rights within each clan so drops are not the objective just fun. =)
DarkLordX2 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) No. Could you be more specific? NO=No Offence? Edited August 19, 2014 by DarkLordX2
DJ_Redwire Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 You may recall during Tenno Live they mentioned that warlords will be able to set up custom clan quests. This could be one of the many ideas among the pile for such a system.
mrhat.lf Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Not if you remember to take off your shoes before you enter the dojo. What, you thought that was just a silly tradition? But Ninjas don't have shoes? So will we have to take off our Frames and clean our Kubrows with fire? I'd think Ordis would love to clean your Kubrow with fire.
PsiWarp Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I wouldn't mind this. In TennoLive 2014, devs mentioned clans creating special alerts for clanmates, this idea would go well with that feature.
RitaVrataski Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I imagine that'll come as some sort of cosmetics. "Shut up and take my warlord's money"
Grayfigure Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I had an idea kinda like this a while ago. Instead of being invaded however, it was basically us 'cleaning out the attic and the basement'. See, since these towers were empty for the last 1000 or so years, the infested have moved into the guts of the towers. As we set up our dojos, we'd get a 'safe floor' where are off our initial rooms would go. Then we could 'plumb the depths' so to speak, choosing to clear out a new floor for more space. Also, in the idea I had, there would be a chance for epic loot, secret items, and base related missions.
Felnia Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 We already have infestation in the dojos. But its only in certain halls where you spawn
Somedude1000 Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I'd love to get disrupted then grappled by a toxic with no weapons on to protect myself while trying to trade
KiteoHatto Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I'd rather have some sort of weapon range with mob types where you can test weapon builds and stuff....
IIPREDATORII Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 No. Exactly what I was going to say. Mind reader. Hahaha.
