What Is The Players Stance On Ultra-Rares?

I will say it here im not vindicating nor blaming the current rng tabels

i am merely curious on what people think about ultra rares in games

as an example there is one game that has an event that appears every couple of hours as a boss fight in which groups of 20 people fight it. it drops the rarest item in the game, one group in the thousands of players sometimes gets it. it is exceedingly rare and coveted by collectors.

do you think additions of ultra rares (eventually) in this game would be bad or good?

IMO i like the idea of there being items that are extremely challenging to get and not surpassable by a grind wall. the closest comparison this game has right now is the brakk.

........So more stuff like Primed Chamber that can make or break a gun or frame........Yeah no sorry.

Also just get a Nekros and a single G3 spawn can get you Brakk same with Detron it really isn't hard since they can be desacrated.  Kinda easy to do too so those aren't a challenge

primed chamber is still technically exclusive therefore i dont consider it a rare

and i havent been so lucky with the G3 even when im desecrating XD. 6 times so far with nekros and still no reciever.

I don't want to go in-depth about Ultra-Rares in Mass Effect 3. Yes, while I have all but one of them... it good luck trying to sort through all the Level four ammo I get.

Best part? Even if you reach the capacity for everything gear-related (255), which means basic consumables, weapons amps etc. You'll still get Level four Ammo, even though you have enough of it. And no, you can't store them.

Exclusives during events? Sure, I wouldn't mind, but mindlessly playing games, in hopes to get that one-in-a-million drop? It's hard to say. Still haven't seen the Harvester in a few months.

I would say no thanks, WF already has problems with dilution, grinding, etc, no reason to put something else in like that.

Also, this. ↑

If you look at it from a veteran player's point of view, I don't know if it would be a great addition, simply because those ultra rares would likely be the only thing a veteran is missing,  I would love to see missions where more than 4 players can co-op, although with the current host/client issues, network latency and bandwidth could be a serious hindrance.  I just want to see more dynamic changes made.  I still have mixed feelings about the T4 keys that were added.  I don't really consider it end-game material because they're really not that much harder than a T3 key.  The addition of Vor in the void was nice, but that sort of encounter shouldn't be limited to just T4 missions.  I've already made comments on the need for more fundamental changes to the game in other posts, so I won't start another rant here, but I will say this: simply adding even more content that's harder to get isn't really going to make anyone happy.

I'm for it. I don't know if OP's specific terminology is something from another game, (Mass Effect was referenced, never played,) but I can think of another game where there was a similar mechanic:

Ragnarok Online. There were bosses that would spawn every few hours or so. After killing them, they'd drop their loot (or, had a chance to drop some loot,) as well as the highest damage dealer gaining an MVP award. There were items as rare as 0.01% exclusive to these bosses that had an effect on gameplay. (Golden Thief Bug Card: 100% Magic Immune, one of those most sought after cards for nearly all tanks and a majority other classes. Entire guilds were made and broken around the drop of one of these cards.)

Now. That's ridiculous in a game like Warframe. I don't advocate adding a, mod card, for example, that is extremely powerful, and extremely rare. (Although, I have no problem with adding a mod card that is 'okay' or 'good' and extremely rare. That's what tradings for.)

But, overall? I'm for it. It creates an economy for players to spend their platinum on, as long as all players have an opportunity to compete for it.

i agree. ide never want the item to be game breakingly powerful.

the game i was refering to was Phantasy Star Online 2. the item is the strongest in the game (or was when i stopped playing), but your right the item doesnt have to be super strong to be a coveted item.

i agree im more interested in seeing more dynamic gameplay first. rares could come later if at all.
