Multishot With Status Proc Builds?

Question

Posted

Should I do it?

From what I've read, having multiple projectiles per shot splits the status chance between them, so if I wanted to do a status build, where each shot would have a nearly guaranteed/guaranteed chance of proc'ing, should I stick to no multishot mods?

I noticed that on shotgun-type weapons, like Strun Wraith or Pyrana, that's how the system works.

Is it the same for single-projectile weapons as well, such as Grinlok or Tysis?

You definitely want the multishot mods if you are going for status. Each bullet fired has the chance to proc, for example a gun with 30% status chance and 100% multishot will now have 60% status per trigger pull due to the 2 bullets being fired. I have both pistol multishot mods maxed as well as tethra and Cicero mods on my marelok and the status per trigger pull is around 98% so it's definitely recommended to have as much multishot as you can get.

Always go for multishot (except for select builds on the penta and castana), pretty much everything you can do with one bullet, you'll do better with two (or three) for the price of one.

And the status chance of shotguns is only split up proportionally to it's original pellet count, so when you add multishot it still effectively doubles it. For example if you have a shotgun with 20% status and 20 pellets, that would be 1% per pellet, and if you added 100% multishot, it would be 40% status and 40 pellets at 1% per pellet, not 20% status and 40 pellets at 0.5% per pellet.

30% status chance with multishot does not = 60%, it equals 30% per shot fired, the UI just marks that up as 2x30% = 60%ish which is inaccurate, even then in the case of rifles theres no certainty the 2nd shot will fire.

even on pistols with say 3x shots definatly being fired, 3x30% wouldnt make 90%, it still makes 30% for each individual shot, 30% is still a pretty low number and all 3 might not proc at all.

status chance on the UI is very confusing and isnt displayed very well.

Yeah you are totally right. My brain kinda melted for a minute there, sorry however the sentiment of my original post remains the same more multishot=more status chances but the math I gave as an example is completely wrong this guys example is the correct version

a better chance yes, and no1 can be faulted for looking at the UI, seeing the "total status%" displayed and thinking that way, our weapon damage is also calculated assuming all multishot rounds hit as well.

so yeah chance of a status proc is better with multishot, the % just isnt additive.

So basically, my grinlok could do a guaranteed double status proc per shot. <3 Since it's 100% before and after split chamber... I love the sounds of that. Does status chance have a hard cap?

100% per bullet... until they decide to make "red" procs :P

Edit: theoretically shotguns would still benefit from more than 100% proc chance (on their UI at least), haven't tested it though.

from the wiki...

"The status chance shown on shotguns is actually the calculated probability that at least one of the pellets will proc. For example, the Strun Wraith displays a 40% status chance, but in fact has a ~5% chance for each of its ten pellets.

This causes an issue where shotguns may proc less often than they should, if at all."

Yeah, I know, I'm just wondering if the UI can even show more than "100%" status for shotguns, since it hard caps at 100% for the other weapon types.

I set up boar prime (tied with strun wraith at 40%) with multishot and all of the status mods and got 97.6%, so we won't know until the next dual stat status mod comes out :P

i suppose they cant add 3 and then leave cold damage out of the picture.

you tried adding the Shotgun Savvy mod, just to see if that bumps it to 100, prolly still leave it short at a guess, never tried myself either.

In case anyone was; wondering putting multishot on a primary with 30% status chance would make the status chance: 30%X(1+30%)= 39%
