How To Set A Snipetron Vandal

Question

Hi all,

After a year I decided to take my Snipetron Vandal from my Inventary and give it attentions.

I'm already levelling it up and using Formas on it.

Well, I'm searching for a good all-around set of mods to take down every 'big' enemies like Heavy units (Gunners, Bombards, Napalms, Techs, MOAs, Ancients) and Bosses (Grineer, Corpus robotics, Phorid and Lephantis and so on) with ONE hit (Heavy units), or a LOW number of them (Bosses).

I repeat. I want to have a good sniper rifle that:

- kills with ONE hit at least every Heavy unit (or the great part of them);

- kills with few hits every Bosses (or the great part of them);

- is an ALL-AROUND weapon (that means no faction-damage mods), good against every factions without change the set;

This is the set until now (consider all of them maxed):

- Serration (have to max it);

- Split Chamber;

- Point Strike;

- Critical Delay (have to find it);

- Hammer Shot;

- Vital Sense;

As you can see, there are two free slots. I can't decide between these two options:

- Max BASE DAMAGE using Heavy Caliber (don't know how it works on Sniper rifles Accuracy) and one more mod;

- Add ELEMENTAL DAMAGE to the set;

That's the problem. What kind of effects does Heavy Caliber on a sniper rifle and what kind of Elemental damage ought to be used to have a good all-around sniper weapon?

The Snipetron Vandal has an high Puncture damage, that has a -50% multiplier against Proto Shields. And that's a great problem, because all kind of Corpus Bosses has Proto Shields.

So I was searching for something to compensate to it, as for example a RADIATION Elemental Damage that grants +75% to Alloy (Grineer), +50% to Sinew (Ancients), +25% to Robotics (the great part of Corpus Bosses are Robotics, as Hyenas, Jackal, Ambulas and so on) but has a-50% against Fossilized (Lephantis) and -25% to Shields (some Grineer Bosses).

Or, always for example, a COLD Elemental Damage that grants +25% against Alloy, +50% against Shields and +25% against Sinew, but has no way to compensate the loss of damage against Proto Shields (in that case, I wish to take Cryo Rounds AND Heavy Caliber together).

What do you think about it? Any suggestion?

Thanks for replies.

P.S.: I play FPSs from 2005 and I prefear the sniper role from these years, so please don't answer with 'put you Snipetron down and take a *OP Weapon of the moment*'.

P.P.S.: I collect Prime and Vandal gear. So don't answer with 'put you Snipetro down and take a Vectis'. If it's not Prime/Vandal I'm not interested in that weapon.

Well you can use heavy caliber but its not great if you like to have any range. I've tried it with heavy caliber maxed and the damage boost is nice but you will miss occasionally which can be annoying. I would say its best to use 2 elemental mods and just switch them according to faction.

You just can't one hit everything with snipetron vandal with only one mod loadout, you have to mod for the faction you're fighting. It'd be silly any other way.
Corrosive is the best elemental combo for a majority of faction enemies though if you decide to remain firmly stuck to the idea which will only handicap you.

Why do people keep asking for an allround build... It can never be as good as faction specific builds so you will stop onehitting heavies waaay more quickly with an allround build. Its not really hard to use mod loadouts A B C for all factions now is it?

I don't like to have to switch mods every time. For two reasons: first, it's boring, second, I prefear to have all-round gears to have more flexibility.

However, yesterday in an Externinate Grineer Alert (lv.30 circa) I saw yellow critical damages like 18k and more to Butchers and 4,2k and more to Lancers, with Magnetic as Elemental damage (I was farming Corpus before) and with just 4 mods in total... (one of them was the non-maxed Serration).

And, with the same set of mods, something like 5-6k to lv.25 Ancients in several defense missions. All without Split Chamber.

Of course I don't pretend to have a weapon capable of OHOK lv.35+ Napalms and Bombards (for example, in fact I wrote OHOK the majority of them at least), but I think it's really possible to have an all-round weapon.

At the end, is there a really high difference between have or not have Heavy Caliber on?

A maxed Heavy Cal has quite a gap on damage compared to non-Heavy-Cal build, though I hate using it on snipers so meh.

I'd go for corrosive for an all around elemental damage mod.

Though I have never tried using the full corrosive build but you might as well consider it.
