360 Controller? Wat?

So I recently bought a third party 360 controller in order to play Dark Souls II. To my surprise I noticed it started vibrating when I was playing Warframe, too. Unless something is limiting your performance on keyboard & mouse, I wouldn't use controller since they only limit you compared to kb&m.

You should be able to see and change the key binds in options.

I play using a 360 controller, and I have mine set up so LB uses my selected ability and d-pad left/right changes the selection. It works fine for me, though if you're used to hotkeys for powers it would feel sluggish and strange.

And no, I have no desire to try and learn to play on a keyboard. I've been playing games with my thumbs since the early 90s, my fingers have no idea how to move.

I also did the exact same thing as you, OP. By the way, you can disable the controller vibration in the Warframe settings.

Anyway, as a long time keyboard/mouse player of Warframe..

Hats off to anybody using a controller to play this game. Holy crap. The game is about 300000000000000000000000x harder.

I salute you.

Wow, I always thought using a keyboard was pretty difficult. Having to hold down shift and press ctrl over and over again with your pinky was painful after a while. I've always used a 360 controller ever since the beginning of my Warframe career, and it's not too bad. Sure the aiming isn't as accurate as a mouse, but the movement is so much more comfortable.

Playing with a controller is easy in this game because it doesn't really require any precise, twitch shooting. It's mostly about mowing down hordes with spam weapons and abilities.

Do yourself a favor though and set the Dpad to ability 1, 2, 3, 4 (going clockwise from the top... or some other order I guess) along with having jump/sprint on the bumpers to capitalise on the movement benefits of using a controller.

I've used the 360 controller in the game. It works and works well for what it is. It is still a controller, however.

I personally didn't care for it, since it came down to the usual controller paradigm; i.e. better movement and worse aiming than KB and mouse.

The movement part is pretty slick overall, but takes some getting used to, as you'd expect. Having an analogue element in movement aids fancy acrobatics a great deal. It's especially good at pulling off melee combos.

The aiming is the usual hassle you see with a little stick with only about a 1/2" total movement and relatively course sensitivity. Sure, it works OK with weapons like the Supra or Boar Prime where you point it in the general direction of relatively close enemies and stand on the trigger. I like my precision weapns like the Soma and Burston Prime, so here it's more of a hindrance than anything else. The precision is very important to me, and it's lacking here.

Like a lot of things, try it out and see how it works for you.

I personally use the d-pad to select my powers and press down the right stick to use them.  It's always worked well for me.

You can edit and rebind the controller commands in the settings menu. I personally had to rebind a lot of inputs to be able to play comfortably with my gamepad...

Bonus: Do people really think that playing with a controller is more difficult than with kb&m? I can understand playing with a Mouse is better/more accurate, but easier? I'm surprised; using a controller with this game felt natural after I figured out a good binding system for jumping/crouching.
