ObviousLee Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) ok, first off before the flame war starts, let me be clear by saying the idea is to take aura mods, or other niche mods, as well as elemental mods, and place them on that shiney new warframe armor low % upgrade. and by low, i'm talking maybe 10% damage reduction if you have the entire set equipped. Lets take these cosmetics and turn them into gameplay assets. thoughts? ideas? concepts? fire some ideas around people, just keep the margins low yea? Edit: allow for armor to be farmed for, bought, as well as craftable in the foundry. Edited June 23, 2014 by ObviousLee
NovusNova Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 No, DE have stated that cosmetic items are not going to have stats at all. And it would be pay2win if this occurred without at least putting the cosmetics in the alerts table. ( I don't care about the "oh you can trade stuff for plat therefore its not pay2win" as someone somewhere is still buying that plat.) It might be a good idea if DE ever reconsider their stance on cosmetics but right now its an unfortunate no.
(PSN)SwagSmasha Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 DE killed stat helmets its obivious they will never make stat boosting armor. DE loves mods after all
inthephonebox Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Cosmetics with stats will not be happening, since they just removed stat helmets. There have also been a number of posts about giving certain frames inherent resistances, like electric resistance for Volt, or poison for Saryn. I don't really see it happening. Instead I am totally in favor of these 'niche' elemental resistance mods, but they do obviously need a buff. Currently it does not make sense to sacrifice shielding or power efficiency or whatever for such low damage resistance, but if the mods were buff to be fair trade off I think more people would use them. If you want to create a build purely around having all the energy, efficiency, damage, and range, then you're going to be a more fragile frame; and likewise if you want to increase your resistances you should have to make sacrifices to your frames other abilities. Build diversity is all about weighing trade-offs to fir your task and play style and I think these and other mods need to be looked at in order to make them viable trade-offs. But as far as stat cosmetics: wont happen; and element resist and particular frames: I say quite unlikely.

It would be a good way to put these "useless" mods to actual use as they could then be tied in tandem with the armor sets they correlate with.

GrayFox Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/248847-alternate-mod-system/#entry2886239For Warframes however, I think the armor sets have the possibility of doing that. From what I can gather from the recent DevStreams, they're still thinking about it. What I would suggest these armor sets to have is not base stat modifiers but decrease in damage taken from specific damage types.Edo Armor = decrease Slash damage takenDaedalus Armor = decrease in Impact damage takenEos Armor = decrease in Puncture damage takenNow this makes room for elemental damage/elemental combo damage reduction-themed armor sets for future content. Phatose Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 They're meant as pure cosmetics, as the community requested a larger focus on pure cosmetic, plat-only items. The thinking was that purely cosmetic items could be sold for real money without gameplay impact, giving DE an income stream that didn't require monetizing things like potatoes. The community was hoping we could reach a point equivalent to TF2, where cosmetic sales were sufficient that there's no real drive to charge for gameplay affecting items. Giving them stats would either be characterized as Pay2Win, or would require adding them to alerts and the like, thus totally missing the point of adding them in the first place.

It's already pay to win. might as well add an instant mastery 16 all weapons and mods package for a small price of 5000 euros with it. Edited June 23, 2014 by InForWar
