Codex = Useless

I remember one of the developers during a livestream saying something like this:

"we are creating the codex so player have access to info, so they don't have to pause the game, and go outside to the internet and the wiki just to understand or find out something about the game"

The most recent codex addition, is no info, and it's actually pure trolling:

"mutalist quanta:

... testing is required to fully understand the potential of this weapon"

They could have made it so much simpler, like: go to the warframe wiki, as our info is useless.

And more is to be said about the non-informative codex:

- No info to know were to get the prime parts of frames and weapons. (the forums seem to be the best place to post that list, usually by our dear rebecca)

- No info on were to acquire special weapons, like the mitter dropped by the phobos bosses, the brakk, detron, dread, etc dropped by the assassin enemies)

- Almost never up to date about the most recent mods

- It's a place of info, but you have to scann all enemies to know anything... making wiki yet again more useful

- you win nothing on having full scanns (but lets hope that's just cause the game is still in beta)

That's all folks.

for people who use the codex like pokemon snap. i support you.

But i agree the codex is so useless. Affinity it gives is reidiculous. Why cant the codex already be programmed? I would use the codex more if its actually like pokemon, heck.

>The codex sees a new enemy.

>The new enemy is recorded in the database

>"Catch it/Scan it ONCE. Is all you need not 5-20 times for 1.

Sounds like what most of your complaints stem from is the fact that the Codex doesn't list the drops from mission rewards, only enemies. Prime parts and special weapon drops (Seer, Miter, etc) are all end of mission rewards.

Far as I know, part of the intent of the Codex (or scanning enemies the maximum number of times) was to provide a bonus against enemies we had all information on, though that isn't stated anywhere at this time. Way I see it, it is yet another beta aspect of the game that needs slightly more depth. The system is pretty sound, however.

well pokemon snap would be consider unrealistic because in real life if you want to do research on an animal

you will need to more than just one encounter to know even a little bit of information about it

ahhhh yes, when I heard about this I was actually excited that I'd no longer have to use wiki.

All I wanted to know was where to get prime parts since the RNG of mods is beyond ridiculous to farm for specific things (which is okay if the unit that drops it shows up more than 1 time every 30 min-oddly, many "uncommon" mods are the rarest of the rare that even capt. Vor probably hasn't found yet).

Result:

The only thing I wanted out of the codex it didn't do.  I thought to myself to just give it time.  It is coming...

So it gives us base armors, but tells nothing about how much hp or how the armor and hp scales each level (I'd really like to know the formula >.>).  Once again it failed me.  Which is really sad because I don't think the formulas on wiki are updated and correct >.>.

Sad days to be a Tenno;

completely lost in space

the codex system is backwards, ppl want more information BEFORE they set out grinding away various missions/bosses/whatever (1 of several reasons we wiki), the information is largely useless once weve faced everything and have accumulated all that info.

i'd argue the single only useful info it gives is Damage Info, but even then its displayed amazingly poorly, again its only use being to transfer to the wiki where its displayed in a way thats actually useful, ingame dmg info on the codex is displayed so poorly its unbelievable.

It cant escape its Pokedex or Civopedia roots, it does exactly nothing to help players find info they want, so its back to the wiki, i can see that as being more of an annoyance to the PS4 players, at least PC can alt/tab out to the wiki, console doods probably have to have the wiki up permanantly on their phone/tablet while playing.
