So I've been wondering about this for a while and instead of a jet stream of liquid nitrogen (we already have the equivalent, Ignis), how about a rifle? This rifle would use cold to propel it's projectiles instead of conventional bullets. So it would be like a cold ignition, or cold percussion. Instead of the primer (assuming bullets have primers this far into the future) being hit to ignite a heated explosion, why not an explosion propelled by temperatures exceedingly low?

I've also been thinking of it being Tenno, created around the time Frost was. Now for stats, I'm thinking of it having more status chance than critical.

Status - 40% (if that's too high, 30%)

Cold Damage - 40

Puncture - 15

Slash - 2.5

Impact - 2.5

Now, I'm not really an artist, so I can't really draw it. But I will try to if this takes off. This is just my suggestion to an innately cold weapon, and personally, I think it would be pretty cool. I envision it as more of a status chance version of the Soma. Let me know what you guys think (:

Obligatory mention of the really cool Corpus freeze ray we're all still waiting for. It really DID stop the world, I guess.

But seriously, I'm of the mind that we need at least one weapon for every in-game element. We have tons for electric while a few of them are just neglected. Last I checked we still lack innate frost, gas and magnetic weapons. By that I mean each use does that damage, not set attacks like ground smashes, as some melee weapons can do things like that.

We could also add the ether set to the ice dmg family.

I really like that idea. We've got heat swords and such, why not have our Ether's emit cold?

I'm thinking if we got a frost primary weapon, it wouldn't have physical damage types. No elemental base weapon also has physical damage types on it. I like the idea, though.

But that's the thing. It would be new and different. No other elemental weapon was ever a hit-scan bullet-type weapon, so I thought this would shake it up not only with the function of the weapon, but the application and use of it.

Erroneous projection on thermodynamics aside, I fully endorse an ice gun of some capacity. As has been said, no weapon thus released has done physical and elemental damage inherently, so I would expect that trend to continue.

People have been lobbying for a Corpus freeze ray for a long time, which would humorously compound on the list of Corpus weapons which are highly effective against their manufacturers. Well and good, but I hope it would end up more like the Lanka than Synapse, Ignis, or Amprex.

Keep in mind though, the jump attack for the Ether sword is radiation proc.

But that's the thing, we've seen too much of that. I personally think this would be the best candidate for that change because as I've stated before, it would pretty much be a reverse of every other bullet weapon. Instead of ignition type propellants, it would be a cold percussion. Now, I'm not sure if serration affects the damage on elemental weapons, but with this it most certainly would. I personally always envisioned a Boltor that shoots ice spikes, but we already have well, the Boltor. Even if it's just one where the trend doesn't continue, I think it would be okay.

Change is a good thing and I see a real benefit here. It would add something new to the stew. Every elemental (that I know of so far) is not a hit-scan projectile weapon. However, I don't mind seeing the trend go out of line once. After all, what if Warframe never evolved, it just stayed exactly the way it was in the closed Beta? No Dark Sectors, no nothing. People would get bored of it reaaaally fast.

Some kinda shotty with CO2 compression blasts.

Looks like a UT Flak Cannon.

That would be kinda cool now that I think about it. We do need more Tenno Primary shotguns in my opinion.

If they did a freeze gun I'd hope that it's a bit more complex than a weapon that just happens to deal only freeze damage.  Ex let it freeze doors shut or create ice slicks on the ground as a secondary fire.

It would be kinda cool, but essentially it would just be another Ignis. I doubt DE would bat an eyelash at this, but man it would be nice to have a little change in the elemental weapons.

One that shoots ice shards?

No, actual bullets but instead of a heat-based propellant (I don't know/think conventional gun powder exists in the age of Warframe) it would be cold based. Something so cold that it creates an icy explosion, thus imbuing the bullet and propelling it.

How about an icy sniper rifle? One that shot badass ice crystals over long distances. Cause why not?

It would be cool, but if this gun were to behave slightly like the Soma, you have your sniper/assault rifle all in one. Or maybe a Latron configuration, so that it's more of a battle rifle/DMR. That would be siiiiiiick. But then the damage would probably need to be upped a bit.
