End Game Content Idea

Something similar to this may have been proposed before, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways.

- CURRENT WARFRAME END GAME ISSUE-

Warframe is all about grinding for gear to help you be prepared to grind for better gear, but what happens when you reach the end of that progression line? What happens when you have all the weapons and warframes and you have found your favorite setup and Forma'd it to perfection? Currently, not much besides helping your friends and just waiting around for new updates and events to hit.

But what if there was a challenge. Something you could put that gear to use for. Currently we have Endless Defense and Survival to push ourselves to the extreme. But unfortunately, outside of the people who participated in those missions with us, nobody really knows what we accomplished. Also there is no real reward to pushing yourself that far besides a little self satisfaction and a large headache. Of course there are the loot rewards that come from those game modes, but if you already have the loot from them then what purpose does it serve?

- THE IDEA PROPOSAL -

The idea that I am proposing is something akin to survival, but without the gimmick of needing to maintain a life support gauge to stay in the mission.

We need an endless gauntlet mode. We need a gametype where it is literally just you and your team trying to live as long as you can until an eventual wipe happens. A timer will be ticking up the whole time you are in the mode and it will stop and be recorded when everyone in the mission has died. You will then recieve a mission complete and be loaded out with whatever mods/resources you found while in the mission.

Enemy types you face within the gauntlet can be limited to one faction, or it can be a mashup of every type. This is something for DE to decide upon and for us to playtest to see what works and what doesn't.

- THE FINER DETAILS -

My idea for this endless gauntlet mode has the players situated within 1 large tile specifically created for this game mode. Those of you who played in the old closed beta days might remember the unique tile that existed on Outer Terminus of Pluto. It was just 1 medium sized tile that had 2 floors to it. It was simple and effective.

A tile similar to that, but on a much much larger scale can be created to house the gauntlet game mode and also give it a unique feeling. We need a room big enough to give breathing space for the up to 4 players, as well as the continuous stream of monsters that will be flooding into it from their spawning rooms situated all around the edges of the tile.

The reasoning behind having only 1 large tile is pretty simple. Currently there are too many enemy pathing issues when playing modes like Survival in large tilesets to really give you the feel of it being an endless stream of monsters. Also, having 1 large tile will help to prevent a lot of people from "cheesing" the game mode to get more time by running around from tile to tile and trying to find odd places to hide.

Now here is where we add a purpose to having this game mode. Because of course if we don't add a purpose, this will just be survival without the life support and nobody will have a reason to play it.

- THE REWARDS -

(This is something DE can tune to what they feel is right, but I have a few ideas that players could agree on)

+WEEKLY RESETTING LEADERBOARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everybody loves bragging rights, so why not give us a leaderboard where we can show off our accomplishments? This could display rankings of all the participants and their highest recorded time survived for each week. If a group of 4 people achieved the highest time together, they would all be displayed as tied for 1st place to keep it uniform throughout.

+COSMETICS!!!!!!

It's evident by the success of helmets, skins, badges, and syandanas that people who play Warframe really do love their cosmetic attire.

Give everyone who participates a dynamically updating badge that displays the highest rank they have ever achieved in the gauntlet! These badges can be applied in your warframe's appearance menu like any other badge you own.

Unique PURELY COSMETIC skins and syandanas for people who make it high enough into the gauntlet! What better way to show off how awesome you are than to load into every match with that badass syandana you just got for placing in the top 1000 of the gauntlet? (numbers are all subject to change)

+RESOURCE BASED REWARDS!!!!!

We all know it's a pain in the butt sometimes to farm those Orokin Cells and whatever other resource you might be lacking. What if you got a nice resource bundle reward delivered straight to your inbox after the weekly reset. These bundles could be based on the ranking you achieved during the current week's competition. It's not game breaking and it provides a fun way to farm for some of those pesky resources. (again, something DE will have control over deciding which rankings receive them and the quantities)

Leave some feedback below or any suggestions to the idea!

TL;DR

New game mode where you kill lots of stuffs and get some interesting and awesome rewards + eFlexing via Leaderboards.

Proxy wars is already what they're set on with focus. Though this sounds better imo.

Ah, you'll have to forgive me if this is something similar to an already proposed idea. Been around here long enough, but I never visit the forums anymore and I suck at remembering to watch Dev Streams xD

It ain't bad. But I think a few more people will be willing to play this mode than to continue with clearing nodes. For new-ish players, at least.

Unless its an END GAME thing, where it branches off Pluto Outer Terminus or something.

This game mode sounds like it would be rather enjoyable. +1

If theres any fans of Gauntlets from Vindictus in here, Props. That said, this idea combined with Bosses every 5 or 10 matches, would be amazing.

So basically Horde mode without needing to bend your back over life support.

This idea is great but I'd just like to point out this can't be the only end game thing. It's great we have clan PVP/Tower Defence coming, proxy wars, questing, etc. coming. If it was just one of any of these, including your idea, I think the game would become a little bland after a while. I mean who likes playing the same thing over and over again?  Not everyone obviously, even if the goal of climbing up the boards is a good hook ( it also isn't a hook for everyone mind you)

The intention I had in mind was to have it start with really low level enemies, but scale up rather quickly. This would allow players of any gear level to jump in and give it a try. They would at least be able to make it for a few minutes working together before the scaling eventually overcomes their gear.

This is a nice setup as well because it gives players a gearing milestone. Maybe when they started the game, they jumped in with some randoms and made it to 4 minutes. Now they have a drive to gear up and make it farther. Perhaps a week down the road they got their gear leveled to 30 and jump in and make it to 9 minutes or something, who knows.

Point is that it should be available for all to try, but with the intent in mind that it scales up quickly so the people with medium-high tier gear can start to feel the challenge without having to wait for an hour just to reach the point where enemies finally take more than 1 bullet to kill.

You're absolutely correct. I would like to see something like this become just one of the many end game options, not to be the only one that exists. And you raise and excellent point that climbing the boards is not everyones cup of tea.

If our "infoscreens" were made for being shown to other players this could be something.

Having some good looks on that page together with the stats and current (your idea) leaderboard achievments + other achievment and stats would make comparisson between players a bit more fun.

If you look at starcraft(2) or battlefield, or Diablo3 for that matter the player info-screens are alot more specialised. There you can see what a player has done - here achievments are hidden behind alot of stuff and never shows up. they're just not important. Also there isn't that many achievments that involve anything other than grinding.

While I do like new rewards, I'm having a small sense of "The game is focused on rewards, that is bad - here is a new game mode...it's good 'cause REWARDS!". Don't missunderstand me though. Having something that is based on a "live" achievment is alot more creative than "more mods". A "ladder" with bragging goodies is fine.

In my opinion we do need more refined gameplay though.

A thing about ladder:

Mastry Rank - Time - Gear - Map - Hours Played - Mission stats.

In order for people to compete at all levels things like the above needs to be adressed.

Let's say a MR4 player makes it 2h43m at Planet1 Node1. Then another MR4 player makes it 2h.13m at the same planet/node.

Now you can see how those players compare to one another.

Was player 1 in a team with 3 MR16 players? What gear did player 2 have? Did player 1 have acess to more stuff due to having played 800 hours? Did the player contribute anything to the game damagewise? Aso.

Sort by rank - Sort by time...

This would let players compete on their own at a "fair" level.

there are 2 problems with this new mode idea:

1. people will always find a way to hide and exploit the timer. defending the pod and needing oxygen is a way to chase the players out and keep them fighting. i don't see pure time based survival mode working.

2. cosmetics are what DE is making money from. they need to stay this way. there are must be some other meaningless way for reward to keep the player interested. leader could be one of the motivations.

i had an idea of reusing invasion mission but makin it endless like def and surv. then introduce random generated objectives which gives points, to keep the play fresh .. for a while.  check it out if you like it support:

End game Corpus boss lvl 150 in the picture and beautiful music for it.

End game survival mission: STAY UNTIL DEATH special void mission. At the beggining of the map you used item Void power.
example: Kill 100 greeniers, boss arrive beaten boss, next 100 greeniers with higher levels, boss arrive, next 100 greeniers with more hiher levels, boss arrive etc etc, to the end. You can't escape from that mission, if you die the mission is ended, void power bring you back to life and teleports you to the base or something, just like it was you, you can make everything but for real it wasn't you that was a Void power to immitate your warframe and his powers. But you actually learning all the things EXP and gaining resources. Edited by IfritKajiTora
