Their Ascension Atlas is great. It similar to Waframe progress system. You can fight as you want - there's no restrictions, it's up to you.
... in Skyforge you're god - clear as day. In Warframe - Tenno.

Tenno. We use different warframes (ancient biomechanical exosuits) to unleash (maintain? gain?) our power. But in game these warframes so different. I used to believe that my character is one person, someone who i can associate myself with. How can this person be male and female in the same time? Or maybe Tenno aren't anthropomorphic creatures since very moment that Void changed them? Spirits, able to possess artificial bodies that Orokin created for them (which means that warframes is a conduits for our Void power and each unique warframe allows to use it differently)?

I personally like variant were i'm just changed with technocyte or/and Void human, who were trained to lead war against so called "Sentients". With huge arsenal of weapons and exosuits.

Who we are? This question bugs me. I love Warframe, i really trying to enjoy when playing. It becomes harder and harder with each update. Don't get me wrong, i really love Warframe and its community, my 5 warning points for excessive passion proves that.
I'm playing not because i like sadistically kill hordes of virtual enemies, not because of blood or something... i just want to be someone else, i want to live in this Warframe universe few hours per day at least. While playing i'm asking myself - who am i in this universe? Bad#ss stylish space ninja who fights against bad guys around Origin System and beyond? For balance? Between bad guys cyborgs, bad guys evil commercial corporation and hungry mutants? Or i'm doing it because i should defend ordinary people (i've heard there's some civil colonies around) against those bad guys? Never saw them btw.

There's no connection between things in Warframe. Core of this game is barely visible, and when players trying to see it - they usually detecting only grind. Because everything else is scattered. Grind isn't bad at all, but it requires some reasoning other than "this shiny thing is looking cool and that's why you want it! / This thing annihilate everything with one shot and that's why you want it!" - plot, story, reasons.

First layer of this all - player and his place in game universe. Who we are? What are we fighting for?
Tenno ships are simply amazing. New UI is great... but old one never was huge problem, and it won't solve main problem which confusing me and many other players for two years already.
Who we are? What are we fighting for? These questions ruining immersion for me, not UI.

I know that Steve is aware of this issue and i hope that he have some vision of Warframe as completed game.
He said once before that players could create their own stories, but all stories should build around something.

So, who we are and what are we fighting for?

TL;DR he wants background knowledge of tenno and lore

Apparently "Tenno" is a faction. Soooooo, we are a group of people - Sooooooo, I assume both males and females. Now the thing that really throws this off is playerships and why we would walk around in a warframe.

CONFUZZLED!

I mean... look. If each warframe is actually character with its own personality and name...

...why do we have this? =>zq-j-e6Pn2g.jpg

This is me. Tenno named Skynin, rank 16 (Eagle). Then who is Ember, Vauban, Volt, Excalibur...? And why i'm controlling them?

Maybe player is not just some Tenno, but Tenno Commander? And we are playing as one of the members of our personal Tenno team on each mission? And now we're getting our own ships? You know...

...That makes sense.

We're advanced humans who are infected with the technocyte virus. We're the lucky few who didn't turn into an infested when injected with the virus. the virus allows us to use the Warframes

Actually, if you read Codex careful enough, you can see that Tenno were transformed by the Void, not technocyte virus. We are not talking about Dark Sector here :D

If you think about it a little more it states we get our powers from the void but does not preclude technocyte infection before hand. There is a train of thought that many in the community adhere to that it is the interaction between the technocyte infection and void energies that grants the Tenno their space magic. We aren't talking about dark sector but it is this games prequel and the Tenno are not named after Hayden for no reason.

No, the technocyte is WHY the Tenno have access to these powers in the first place, or the very least, a large part of why.  Dark Sector is considered linked to Warframe, maybe not precisely canon, but the two will share similarities.  The void is where these infected were exiled into, they weren't tossed into the void for $#!%s and giggles.  When the Orokin were getting their asses kicked by an enemy called "the sentients" that kept utilizing the Orokin's own technology against them (and coincidentally advancing in tech was actually making things worse for the Orokin,) the Orokin began to retreat into the void, where their "science and reason failed," but what they found there were SOME survivors of former exiled infected people, and discovered they had these strange new powers as a result of unexplainable mutation.  The warframe was built around them to channel their infliction into a weapon, as the technocyte allows a human to interface with advanced tech, and then they were trained in "the old ways" of gun and blade.  Basically, Tenno = X-men.  Warframe = Cyclops' visor/Iron-man suit minus Jarvas, unless the Lotus counts.  Finally, Valkyr = Wolverine.

It was never made clear if the void had any influence on these people, just "the twisted few that returned from the void..."  It makes more sense that the Tenno contain the technocyte within them, haven't gone mad from the pain caused by the virus (I suspect adrenaline may actually be what sets off the radical transformations) thus explaining why they can interface with a suit of armor that is coincidentally made out of infested material.

We are the Orokin kill happy accident children that killed their parents. The second group of beings able to survive the void, first being infested. Currently fight for the lotus money and resources. But Hayden was definitely the first Tenno; confirmed by DE Meagan

I disagree. We are not immune to the technocyte, though our suits are made from reconditioned infested materials.

We are affected by both the Technocyte virus and the energies of the Void. We were used as some sort of guinea pigs by the Orokin and then "encased" in the warframes (of T-cyte origin) when Orokin needed us to beat teh Sentients. Afterwards, we, the Tenno, the rejects, the shunned, the hated, turned all our grief and anger to those that made us what we are and took down the Orokin when the time was right.

-snip-

I see nothing but massive headcannon here. Originally Warframe was meant to be a heavy reference to DS and thus the similarities of names and such, regadless of how cannon DS is to warframe we have been given nothing about our Tenno other than they were orokin mutated by the void. It could all just be coincidence or not, DE just hasn't told us.

The tenno-technocyte theory is a possibility yes but it is far from confirmed, and personally it irks me to see people going around stating headcannon as fact.

That is your Type of Frame you are a Warframe user and that is your Tenno Name

So far DE hasn't given us enough lore for us to be able to answer these questions. We have theories ranging from us controlling many different Tenno to us controlling one, that we're capable of shapeshifting, or that we might not even be in the suits, that they are remotely controlled.

The fact remains that until DE takes a stance on some of these questions (assuming they ever do) we're just speculating, so we're going to have to hope that someday DE adds more in-depth lore to the game so we can figure out some of these questions.

Now we play the waiting game.
