Compatibility Issue/exe Not Found (Fixed)

As of a day ago, WarFrame has suddenly stopped working on my PC. Now whenever I pull up the launcher it refuses to load anything and only shows the following message:

 

"Warframe can not be run on this version of Windows; Windows XP Service Pack 3 or later is required."

 

I am not running the game in any specific compatibility mode and my computer has Vista: Home Premium.

 

I'm not sure why WarFrame suddenly thinks I'm running an older version of Windows. I have attempted re-installing steam because I was experiencing some other issues (desktop shortcuts to steam games not working).

 

Has anyone else had this specific issue?

 

EDIT: I managed to fix this issue in the following way.

 

1. Run regedit

 2. Find: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

 3. Rename Steam.exe to DISABLED_Steam.exe

 4. Find: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Compatibility Assistant\Persisted

 5. Rename Steam.exe to DISABLED_Steam.exe

 6. Restart Steam and it should work

 

Now WarFrame is giving me a NEW error message:

 

Update failed!

 

Cannot find the Warframe executable!

 

The update will be restarted shortly...

 

Then it proceeds to try and load another update, and then repeats that message.

So... now what?

UPDATE: I have fixed the above issue with the launcher claiming it cannot find the executable. I'm not sure why this works, but I went to where the EXE file is located, looked in it's properties and unchecked the box that said "run as administrator".

After doing so, I attempted to run the Launcher again and everything started working properly. I can even log in and play the game now.

 

So, anyone else having this issue... try that!
