(PSN)VayMathias Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 This just came to me while I was playing, I think it would be cool for all weapons to have a new stat called "Elemental Coefficient" and all melee weapons to have another additional stat called "Channeling Coefficient". Elemental Coefficient would be a multiplier that would increase or decrease the weapons elemental damage from mods. A weapon with a higher coefficient like 2.0 (1.0 being the standard) would receive double the fire/ice/electric/and toxin damage, while a weapon with say only .5 would receive half. This could go a long way to creating more variation in weapons. They could even add rare mods that increase this stat. Channeling Coefficient would do the same but for channeling. Right now channeling only increases damage by 50% excluding any mods, this would increase this damage multiplier further, after all mods, to create some more versatility in weapons. You could now have weapons that do good damage without channeling that receive a very little damage increase from Channeling, while other would do very little damage without channeling but do a lot of damage while channeling. Opinions?
(PSN)Bobtm0 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I definitely dig the idea on the channeling side of things, however I'm not so on board for the elemental coefficient. As for the channeling one, it's stellar sounding as it could help in bridging the messed up balance that currently exists between heavy, medium, and light melee weaponry. Sounds like good ol' solid variety to me on all counts there. The reason I'm not keen on the elemental one however is that... well it just doesn't fit the current set in my mind. Since currently the physical damage mods are already literally pointless due to how they are calculated, and that elements and their combos are what allow people to efficiently use any weapon versus any faction, doing this would just be a hard nerf to anything below 1.0. Whilst being a hard buff to anything above 1.0. Basically, we need a more feasible balance between the different weaponry and their mods before the elemental one can be a thing. In my opinion of course.

Nkomo-Sama Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Me likes. Kinda. Elemental doesn't go under 1.0 and this is dmg not proc chance right? It has promise. It could fit give or take some tweaks.
