DrMeowmix Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 So being rewarded the Prova Vandal for 48 points in Breeding Grounds got me thinking... Will we soon see the reintroduction of other event/market retired weapons? The Prova Vandal was originally intended as one of the rewards for the Gradivus Dilemma had the Corpus won. This makes me wonder if maybe the Machete Wraith will be reintroduced in a future event. This might not happen, as the Prova Vandal is a special case, being that nobody actually possessed the weapon prior to Breeding Grounds, and players that already own the Machete Wraith might see recycling it as a reward as a sort of letdown/ripoff. Anyways, I was just speculating. Maybe we'll see the reintroduction of market retired items like the Ether Daggers or non primed Boar. Who knows?
Cryless Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I really hope they will bring those weapons back, not for collecting them, but for making xp :)
DavidSPD Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) I'd imagine... since they confirmed on livestream and other occasions that certain items will make a return. Seems most likely they'll wait until after they retire some more "unpopular" items, and then eventually re-release them as a "limited time offer" bundled together with some affinity boosters. Zhoyzu Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 DESteve said to think of the retired items going into a "disney vault" where as well see them again at an unknown time far into the future
Seele Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I've brought it up with DE_Drew and his response was "I don't have anything to relay at the moment". Source: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/242356-june-6th-community-hot-topics/page-5#entry2828162 This is something I've rallied for extensively, but forum activism goes so far. Here's hoping.
tveeggad Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I would very much like to have the ordinary Boar and Machete. Since I accidentally sold the blueprints after they got retired. AND SUPPORT COULDN'T HELP. Otherwise, it'd be cool if I could trade my Machete Wraith away to someone who could make more use of it.
-Himari- Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I'm not sure if they will bring back retired items, they may. But, they did advertise the Prova Vandal along with the Detron, Brakk & Machete Wraith. I'd like to think that they released it because they had already shown it off and the Detron is around (just with the harvester). But I do enjoy your thinking on the subject.
weirdee Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) Things that aren't coming back: - Founders/Prime Access items - Snipetron Things that could come back: - Everything else - Yes, even Snipetron Vandal Time you will have to wait for those things: - Quite a while I support putting more older retired stock weapons in the daily roulette Edited June 28, 2014 by weirdee

Here's hoping. Here's to hoping indeed, I would love to get my hands on some Ether Daggers. I've also been thinking with enough weapons and frames and the like to get to MR 16 currently, I feel as though the revival of at least SOME of them is all but guaranteed.
mistopportunity Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Things that aren't coming back: - Snipetron Why though, Im assuming you know.. Is it because the Lanka has the same model? Surly they could make a new model for it..
DrMeowmix Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 Why though, Im assuming you know.. Is it because the Lanka has the same model? Surly they could make a new model for it.. I believe the stated reason the Snipetron isn't returning is because with the Corpus using energy weapons and the Snipetron being a projectile weapon, it doesn't fit the lore. But the Braton and Lato series are also Corpus manufactured, and were just retired from service after the Dera and similar began production. So maybe the Snipetron was standard issue before the Lanka was invented..? I dunno, just spitballing.
(PSN)Abyss_666 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 aslong as I get a chance to get the strun wraith I'm happy

(which both have primes) if you're a lore stickler.
SquirmyBurrito Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) I can understand why people want event items... but why the machete? I mean, you guys (some of you) see how bad the machete wraith is, why on earth would you want its brain damaged little brother? I also think that any weapon they had a good reason for retiring (the snipetron and its lore inconsistency being an example) should remain retired. surely you could just say that was old old lore and the real lore is that the snipetron is actually a tenno design, same with braton and lato. (which both have primes) if you're a lore stickler. If they're going to go through the trouble of giving it a new model and changing its back story, why not just skip all the mess that would create (snipetron vandal suddenly making even less sense) and just release a different sniper rifle under a different name? Cleesus Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 You honestly never know what will happen, there are only a couple pieces of gear that are never coming back. Everything else is fair game!
(PSN)Zmarq010 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Check the ps4 update 13.7 thread, [DE]Drew said something about events. https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/249886-status-ps4-u137-information/?p=2937707

Surly they could make a new model for it.. nah, see, it was a corpus weapon that fired bullets. it was removed specifically because that broke their corpus lore. it's not coming back. de said that they are willing to give out snipetron vandal again cause it's special, but the time when this happens is a mystery to everybody Edited June 28, 2014 by weirdee

The biggest issue I see with reintegrating Snipetron/Vandal is that they have, for whatever reason, attempted to replace it with Lanka. They could not be bothered to think of a new model for a new weapon so they just retired Snipetron and reused the asset. All Snipetron needs (besides possibly a new name, because that's weak) is a new model. Make it look like a DMR variant of the Braton series and there you go. Lore justification, no clash with Lanka, and identical functionality for all the people who would inevitably cry their little hearts out if their Snipetron Vandal stopped being hitscan one day.
Trowicia Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I want my Braton and Lato Vandal back... I contacted DE about this a while ago and they were like "top kek soz4u should've not been a scrub and actually used them" They didn't actually say that, but yeah, they said something about how they can't bring back something that's been deleted from my inventory for that long. (been well over a month since i got rid of em)
Sasquatchias Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 inb4 not this thread again Tired of these... Blame DE for not having this information in an easily found place.

Braton and Lato are Corpus weapon hybrids. They do not use energy to fire.
(PSN)Hooligonzo Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Heh. The DEsney Vault. Toss the machete into the log-in blueprint pool, man!
SquirmyBurrito Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 See also: Braton and Lato. Lore justification, no clash with Lanka, and identical functionality for all the people who would inevitably cry their little hearts out if their Snipetron Vandal stopped being hitscan one day. The Braton's lore was changed to claiming it is a tenno weapon. I assume the same can be said for the Lato. If they're going to go through the trouble of giving the snipetron a new model, new lore, and a new name they might as well just create a completely new weapon and leave the snipetron retired. Changing the snipetron that drastically would also call for the snipetron vandal to receive all those changes, and I rather like my snipetron vandal as it is.
