Pbrandon1 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) Oh god...just played Sargus Ruk not too long ago...and omg..the booms from the barrels, and the constant electricity...and the freaking enemies and Sargus Ruk Fire Globe...oh god.... After that, I just realized that this is horrible for new players and solo people. All this going on and not a single place to go where you are being attacked. I know that is suppose to be good since your suppose not feel safe anywhere during a boss fight but goodness gracious, getting shocked everywhere, getting shot by enemies, getting hit by explosive barrels, while also trying to dodge Sargus Ruk's fire attacks that can mostly have large range...dear god... Farren Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Remember, you can preemptively destroy barrels and arc traps.
Archistopheles Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 It takes a few runs before you understand his mechanics.
(PSN)jenax002 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) Remember by the time people start fighting Sargus Ruk, they are no longer considered as 'NEW' players. Pbrandon1 Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 Remember, you can preemptively destroy barrels and arc traps. Yeah, but there are some arc traps that are impossible to hit and since you are trying to run away from him when he release his giant AOE attack or volcanic attack, you could possibly run into arc traps, explosive barrels, and get wrecked.
Farren Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 The key word is "preemptive". Preemptive basically means to do something beforehand to prevent something. In this case, it's not activating or ignoring Ruk and shooting the hazards. I have not seen a glitched arc trap in recent memory, so you can shoot them.
Pbrandon1 Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 Remember by the time people start fighting Sargus Ruk, they are no longer considered as 'NEW' players. Disclaimer - Taxing new players to a specific node that they feel is too hard is not considered a gameplay issue. Let me rephrase it. I mean they do not have the equipment to be able to handle all of this mess. Look, I tried this with a couple of people who already seemed to have a standing in the game and they got wrecked really badly. Trying to get out of the giant attack while getting blasted by arc traps, getting shot by enemies and even getting blasted by explosive barrels, it seemed like a nightmare. Now take that, and it apply it to new players. The reason I consider them new is because probably by this point, they probably haven't yet to make a standing in the game yet with equipment, weapons, and level since Saturn only increases you through 11-17. The key word is "preemptive". Preemptive basically means to do something beforehand to prevent something. In this case, it's not activating or ignoring Ruk and shooting the hazards. I have not seen a glitched arc trap in recent memory, so you can shoot them. And I have played the mission and I got a glitched arc trap and kept constantly zapping me while we tried to deal with Ruk. Also, they only way it seemed to be to find an arc trap was to get zapped by it before realizing it is there and even if you do, you still may probably get screwed because it maybe glitched and impossible to hit. Also, it seemed that for the most part, players seemed to ignore the explosive barrels and focus on the boss, some didn't even notice they were there. Some may just charge into the boss without knowing and must suffer the punishments because Sargus Ruk only opens his weak points for a short amount of time, so you gotta get it before it closes. Adding onto that he seemed to be constantly spamming his large AOE attack and volcanic attack which sent you running right into arc traps, and probably explosive barrels and you got a nightmare. Even if you try to warn people to take care of the hazards beforehand, some hazards are just impossible to get to without triggering the boss, other may not downright listen and just press forward without dealing with them.
Cwierz Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 One thing about ruks boss fight (and to some extent the fire eximus leaders) is that the fire blast thingy tends to F*** up your vision. Like literally, it expands slowly, knocks you down, and you cant see S#&$ because it doesn't fade away. That should be fixed.
vaugahn Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I've only ever seen a single arc trap spawn in the room with ruk.
traybong111 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I've only ever seen a single arc trap spawn in the room with ruk. Really? I've always had several arc traps spawn near Ruk--not exactly the platform where he stands, but near the stairs and often enough inside that little room with the control panel in front of him.
CY13ERPUNK Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 honestly, the tile that Ruk spawns in is awfully designed, its really just a horrible "boss-tile" and needs an overhaul it has no connection/flavor/lore/association at all whatsoever with his character or story, why is he in that room? it doesn't make any sense to encounter him in there =[ and i say this as someone who usually has nothing but love for the level design guys, but srsly I hope that most "boss-tile"'s ingame atm are placeholders, because a lot of them are really garbage/trash =[
