Innocent_Flower Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) I'm not going to deny the existence of tiers (starter, easy to obtain, more difficult to obtain, orokin/upgraded) despite how shakey they might be; but there's a serious change in quality through weapon classes. Explosive weapons; Godly Snipers; bad Semi auto/burst; ok hitscan Automatics; good Slow projectile automatics;godly. Bows; good Shotguns: ok Beam weapons: all over the place, despite the fact that they're all pretty costly. Fist weapons: awful fist and feet weapons: ok Staff weapons;godly dual weapons: good Heavy weapons: awful Swords/machete; Good Nikana: great glaive: good I haven't played a few classes of weapons since melee 2.0 and You're bound to disagree with me on specifics and there are of course exceptions even in my mind (.. But I think we can all agree That there's a clear difference in the quality of two different types of weapons even when they're in a similar price/grind range. Edited June 29, 2014 by Innocent_Flower
TwelfthAngel Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Its mainly just that stats that DE gave them that makes them worse or better. And its not usually the mechanics of the weapons as it is the numbers its given.
TC-Guardian Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I can agree with the sniper 1 but the rest of the primaries are pretty even when nodded well. As for melee, I agree the fists are crap while poles work great however the others all have there balancing factors. And as a side note, Nami Skyla have the highest spin damage by far and are godly because of it. I don't really think a lot of these weapons balanced anymore than they are, however they do need to have a more appropriate and spread mastery rank requirement structure.
The66Monkey Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Its mainly just that stats that DE gave them that makes them worse or better. And its not usually the mechanics of the weapons as it is the numbers its given. well explosives are broken in the setting, they can charge Nyx absorb faster than anything else and deals with clusters of enemies faster than anything else so that is not entirely true. But fist weapons are becoming more viable, tried those claws today and so far they seam to be good.
(PSN)BAJAN Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Wow All the weapons are becoming Crap if you Mod or Forma your weapon to match the enemy your trying to kill you would be fine, Problem is that Great Weapons in this game was NERF and that's why the GAME IS SUCKING NOW.
HitPointPredator Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Warframe is in need of some kind of balance update fairly soon.

Thanks for backing up your explanation with 100% fact, not opinion. DE said they are working on balancing, and keep in mind the game is in beta, not a final product. If you want the final product, feel free to leave the game until it is released as such.
(PSN)Bobtm0 Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 You forgot Shotguns, and personally I'd put them in the okay category at the highest. But yeah the balance, or rather lack thereof, amongst the different weapon categories is just silly. I'm so looking forward to an eventual sweeping balance pass, despite having this gut feeling that we may never get one in Warframe.

IF's post are kinda all over the place, but FWIW i think this post is pretty spot on explosive weapons ingame are stupid powerful AND have the best ammo econ too boot snipers do ok dmg but have the worst ammo type, bows are in the middle (and the cernos is still terribad, but that is really more about how puncture is a MUCH more valuable dmg type than impact or slash) semi-autos like marelok/brakk/etc are just on another level from anything else available, and the boltor prime is the best automatic rifle ingame that's not hitscan (the soma is still ok, but all those crit mods it needs to perform take up valuable mod space)
