DJ-7809 Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Hey, everyone. Just wanted to talk a little bit about the last event, Breeding Grounds, and how it affected Solo Tenno. I, personally, prefer solo play. I'm not just being a numbskull or a hardcorist about the event, I would have gladly played Online. If only I could. Let me give you a bit of backstory. My semi-nice computer died. Motherboard fried. I started using a Dell Inspiron Studio 1550 for warframe. It got overheating problems. I could NOT join an online game, for unknown reasons. I could simply NOT play online missions. I personally believe it just overloaded the GPU, which was already running very, very hot (averaged about 60 celcius when warframe started, jumped to over 100 while in ANY game, including solo. Every online mission I joined,at some point during it, the computer would simply turn off due to heat/overloading of it's gpu/cpu. Simply turned off, mid-mission. Now, this wouldn't be a problem if the event was similar to, say, the Spectres of Liberty event, where you COULD solo, however, I could NOT get any of the event mods/weapon because of this computer issue. I could play 3-4 solo missions solo before it would overheat, giving me time to turn off warframe and cool the computer. But, in an online mission, it simply turned off due to the power-spamming and general foolhardyness of online missions. Now, let me explain how hte scoring system worked. You could play a many missions as you wanted, solo. You got 6 points per mission for it. You NEEDED more players in the game to boost your 'best' score up higher. I raced through the missions, I don't know what happened, but I could nOT score over 6 points. The problem, was that you REQUIRED the 'best' score, NOT the 'total' score. I don't think playing 6 missions is too grindheavy for an event, so basing it from the 'total' score makes so much more sense....and yet I simply could not get it solo because you forced online play. I now have to use plat to get the event mods, and will NEVER get the prova vandal, because you FORCED online gameplay. Please, stop. You are starting to punish solo gameplay, and I'm not liking it one bit.
BrotherIcarus Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 It was pretty damn easy on solo you just needed to run the mission more time. The scoring worked by the more runs you did that higher your score thus if you ran the mission enough times you would get the required amount even solo. A lot of people played the event solo.

I got a score of 29. I did not receive the mods. What? I got 6 points no matter how many times I played the mission.
Grascen Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Weird. I got a score of 48 exclusively from solo play and it didn't take that many missions at all.
BrotherIcarus Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I got a score of 29. I did not receive the mods. What? I got 6 points no matter how many times I played the mission. Was 28 your total score? Because you needed you highest score to get the rewards not the total. To give some perspective of how much you needed to run the mission to get the required points I got a total of 500 points in order to get my highest score to get the rewards.
unknow99 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I agree that solo players are a bit let down at the moment, but this event was doable (if you had the time to grind for it)...
Romalic Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) a solo run with around 450 total points would give you around a 48 score, depending on the types of hives you killed, gas, magnectic and shield depleting cold were the highest scoring your best score possible was calculated off your total score, the more you played the higher it got, it increased on average about 4-6 every 2-4 missions as the hives were subject to change each run i have no idea how many missions i played, but it was a lot and i didnt even come close to the high scoring players, i ended at 304/37,848, and that was over half done alone, why? because it was easier running with a loki and invis, i would have prefered a group playable mission where you could achieve more a group, but that wasnt the way it was set up did you run with all the settings turn as low as they can go?, i mean absolute minimum, everything you can turn off, turned off, it seriously cuts down on resource usage and GPU load for low end setups, then again the computer may just be too low in spec Edited June 30, 2014 by Rovak
Shion963 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Event was possible to solo. I did it, and I usually fail at soloing earlier events. To give some perspective of how much you needed to run the mission to get the required points I got a total of 500 points in order to get my highest score to get the rewards. This. I finished at 570 total with 53 best. Took me about 5 hours.
Babellon Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I solo'd the event, made 45 ( just shy of what i needed to get that vandal), seemed pretty easy. I personally hope that they find some way to use the data from the playerbase runs to improve the games difficulty scaling for both solo and group play. The idea that the more times you run the same map the harder it gets is very sound. there is a lot from that event that WF can use to improve its dynamics and mechanics to create a more entertaining and exciting game play experience.
DJ-7809 Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) I had ZERO time to play, due to my job, and the overheat issues. I just mean....it was PUNISHING to play solo. That's the problem. It didn't seem POSSIBLE to me, due to it's immense grind. At 6 points a mission, i was supposed to do nearly 100 to get it? With that crappy computer? No event has ever been that punishing for a solo player. That's my point. Edited June 30, 2014 by DJ-7809

No event has ever been that punishing for a solo player. That's my point. I'm a semi-solo player with a job as well, and it's not 6 points a mission, after a certain number of missions, it'd rise, so 6, then 8, then 14, etc. per mission. Your computer was the limiting factor, and tbh... that's really no one's problem, much less the devs, except your own. Not like the Prova Vandal was something that people just HAD to have, you could've just gotten the mods and arguably got the most out of the event that way.
