It's Time To Make Eu West / Eu East Regions

DISCLAIMER (that shouldn't even be neccessary): I have nothing against Russians. This thread is for the sake of improving latency and communication.

I used to play League of Legends for about a year and a half, and witnessed how the EU server grew rapidly with eastern players, resulting in severe latency issues and a language barrier (they couldn't understand english and we couldn't understand russian). This resulted in Riot Games creating two servers for the European players and with it, they made most people happy.

The same thing is happening in Warframe at the moment. Warframe is growing extremely rapidly in Russia and neighboring countries. If you play in the europe region you probably noticed that nearly all matches are populated by eastern players. Sometimes it's fine, other times it's just frustrating.

You see, the distance between western europe and russia is enormous. This means latency is also enormous.

I firmly believe that the eastern europe playerbase is large enough to justify a split. It's not a big deal anyway since you can freely switch between regions.

It would be up to you. It depends where you have better latency. I live in Sweden and get unplayable lag when a Russian is hosting. You know, the kind of lag where doors don't even open.

Unfortunately, servers aren't cheap.

Although I do think Russians ought to have their own servers, Considering that FTP is the most profitable game development style over there.

I'm not sure there are separate servers located in each region.  I believe it's probably the same server, and we're just selecting our regions, so the main server will know how to divide us when it comes to things like region chat, trade chat, recruit chat, matchmaking, etc.

I mean.  If we're on separate servers completely there'd really be no way for me to PM my EU/Asia region friends or see if they're online, etc.

(I'm just guessing here, don't really know for a fact.)

I wonder how many times this topic is going to pop up before DE at least addresses the issue. I'm American, and I fully agree. For those who are concerned with speaking with other people, you have to understand that being able to play the game comes before any other issue. And when you're closer to Russia and you're playing on a server with someone closer to the Atlantic, it's laggy. And when it's laggy, you can't play.

Hear hear. Though you can just set a ping restriction on your match-making. It helps, really.

Why?

Such split will do nothing. People From eastern Europe (like me) will still play on western servers. The entire splitting business is nothing more than dousheness and hating, hidden under other agendas. No matter if such split happens, you western european guys and gals will still end up with Eastern europeans from time to time, because people from eastern europe have friends in western and it will be plain idiotic (to say politely) to be separated by such pathetic boundaries.

The Internet connection is not an excuse, for I've seen a lot of people from all around Europe to have Internet, powered by hamsters, so it's all about luck. If I in Bulgaria can have a perfect match with a Russian, British and Spanish person at the same time I personally don't think such splits are needed... at all in fact.

The language might be a problem, but splitting the European community in two will NEVER EVER (NOT IN MILLION MILLENNIA) fix the issue.

I couldn't agree more. Nothing against Eastern-Europeans, but in 9/10 cases, they are terrible hosts. So much lag, it's unplayable. And then getting cursed at in Cyrillic doesn't really help improve the experience.
