ValhaHazred
No... Your just being a troll know it all. Help educate about Japanese culture? From what! Wikipedia? Bull!!!! And you're being alarmingly defensive. If I trolled you it was unintentional. I can't exactly post my education and the books I'm reading out of on the internet. If it actually matters to you I'm using "The Book of the Sword" and "the Philosophy of Victory" right now.

OrphanMaker
I wan't even the first to point out that Ninjato don't exist. At least I provided the correct name. I'm not being a troll and I'm not trying to argue. I'm trying to help educate. The other person I'm talking with says they want to study Japanese culture in college, so I figured I'd try and help. Why is trying to get people to use the correct terminology and learn a little wrong? Anyways the ninjato may exist, no one knows the truth. It can be labeled as a mysterious sword for a mysterious warrior. Edited July 1, 2014 by OrphanMaker

Senketsu_
Lol, read what you just posted. It says right there that they didn't exist in the "modern" sense until the 15th century. There where predecessors sure but they where retroactively labeled Ninja. I know that they werent trully called that untill the 15th century, I was just saying that there were people did what ninjas do earlier, they just werent called ninjas. nor had any sort of order, our teachings really. Beas7ie
No... Your just being a troll know it all. Help educate about Japanese culture? From what! Wikipedia? Bull!!!! Yelp, Im going to help educate you dumb people with wikipedia. Actually he's right about the ninjato not really existing. Historically when Ninja's went out on missions, they usually didn't use a ninjato. That's all fiction. They used modified farming tools or even scrap metal they found lying on the ground that they sharpened to be sharp and pointy. But this is Warframe with Space Ninjas, explosions, big guns, and soon to be space dogs so reality goes right out the window.
Senketsu_
Facepalm** Really? Great way to express emotions. Anyways don't cite Wikipedia as a means to get your point across. Facepalm** XD why cant I cite it? its just like reading a textbook only on the internet, theres a little thing called sources at the botton of the page. anyway OP is wrong Samurai werent the only ones to use Katana's. Ninjas would use one if it was the only weapon available. And your going to get on to me about using Wikipedia, when you seemed to have used something like Deadliest Warrior to support your clam? A TV show that only cares about ratings? Edited July 1, 2014 by Senketsu_

jjpdn
60% would be impossible. THis means that with the right mods, you would keep staggering any boss you hit it with, giving him no time to fight back. Its good now, I think, but needs something special. Beas7ie
which is were the original Kunai came from. Kunai, throwing stars, darts, nunchaku, sai, tantos, kama, kusarigama, bo staff, three section staff. A lot of that came from farm tools that were modified to be better weapons and this was because it was outlawed for peasants to own swords and other weapons and violations were punished by death. By using the farm tools, anytime someone would come poking around, the peasants/ninja would just say "That's no weapon, that's just a farming tool." and whoever was in charge wouldn't think much of it. This was commonplace in Japan, Korea, and China. In a related matter, ninjas were actually active in China before they were active in Japan. They were originally an assassin group called the Moshuh Nanren who did the basic espionage, spy, assassin stuff that ninjas became famous for. And most of them were former Shaolin Monks who either disliked the Shaolin lifestyle and left for other adventures, or have broken serious rules while in the order and were expelled. Either way, the end result was a bunch of kung fu trained Shaolin badasses, who suddenly wanted to make a living and were no longer bound by the restrictions and ethics that the Shaolin Temples imposed upon its members. Isn't history fun!?
HeroHowler
Isn't the "shikana" (excuse me if I spelled it wrong) kind of like the ninjato (excuse me if I spelled THAT wrong lol)
OrphanMaker
^^ In that documentary it hints that the practices and beliefs of the ninja in Iga was learned from rouge monks looking for some where reclusive.
vaugahn
Well this thread is no longer about a weapon idea. Anyways the ninjato may exist, no one knows the truth. And no. Ninja were known to use sharpened farm tools and other bits and bobs, Ninjato became a thing in the 60's

XD why not the wakizashi its a smaller sword that would fit a ninjas minimalist loadout style. Me personaly would rather have one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naginata(Really want this one) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wakizashi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagamaki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tant%C5%8D(fangs already kind of are these anyway) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nunchaku http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sai_(weapon). Before they made a japanese weapon used pretty much only in movies with no historical proof it really existing

To be honest I feel like the sai besides the ninjato belong in the game. Edited July 2, 2014 by OrphanMaker
