This Is Just Terrible (Acquiring Essential Weapon Mods For New Players)

Those are the only rifle mods I have received on my noob account after 8 hours of game play. I have completed Mercury, Venus, and Earth. I have also unlocked Sedna and farmed Kappa for an hour.

I do think that DE talked about giving new players the "default" mods when they first start. These mods can later be upgraded to a higher quality for use in endgame content.

last devstream i swear i recall someone mentioning some toned down versions of mods that you would get for completing the vor quest to get you started. someone correct me if im wrong. Ninja'd :X

No need to give me anything, I'm an experienced player just trying out the new player experience. Back when I started playing this game, any mod could be dropped by any enemy. For example, you could farm Infested for every mod in this game.

 

Now acquiring mods is pain in the &#!, because ''uncommon'' mods like Serration are more rare than actual rare mods.

Aside from highlighting a potential problem so that DE can look into it?

I mean these forums right here. These are pointless too. I don't even know why anybody bothers to post at all.

Why can't everyone just play the game and not even fight the problems. Just adapt and you'll eventually learn to deal with it when a similar problem occurs later!

Oh I did. And frankly it's annoying when people complain about this kind of stuff. 

I could understand when they couldn't find a mod because if it's far too rare (e.g. the malicious raptor and gleaming talon stance mods) but here he's complaining about not getting the mods like serration.

The whole "you get everything you need while progressing through star chart" is not true. You won't get anything just by doing the missions once without huge luck and that should be obvious.

 

Try farming Apollodorus for serration.

dude, took me a while to have the mods i have now from back when i started, i just recently happen to find flow when i have played for like a year, a year to find a mod(- 6 months i think cuz of the new damage 2.0 they released, couldn t do damage so stop playing) 

 

and those mods you have are totally the mods that new players get at first, even if you did this or that, took me a while to have serration and damage mods

I've been Apollodorus for Serration and Infested dark sector defense for Hornet Strike without any results. What makes this even worse is that new players have no choice but leech. 4 newbies won't survive longer than 10 minutes on a survival mission or longer than 10 waves on defence mission. The enemy level and armor scaling is too much. My 400-damage cronus hits were reduced to 40 damage after 10 minutes, and on Bombards I barely hit 10.

I never had that problem with my newbie account. So I guess its just luck? Sure I started having problems when I fought the corpus but then eventually through playing defense missions I gathered enough mods and such to kick some corpus but I enjoyed the challenge of the game. ( Gotta admit fighting Captain Vor with my newbie uncle was a pain )

But to who? But what about noobs whose weapons couldn't pass Earth without having trouble? Of course players that have surpassed such walls wouldn't remember that feeling. It's easy for you because because you're already experienced but new players, hah.

In response to OP, DE has said something of a solution to this problem. As someone else has stated before, they will be releasing beginner class forms of mods in the game, like a Beginner Serration that goes to only 100%, to the players when they finish Mercury or sooner.

This is very true, especially with regards to armor scaling on early planet survival/defense missions.  

 

While I can't say this for PC since I don't have an alternate account, I can say this applies for the PS4 newbie experience.

 

Taikaponi, I think you may be spoiled/biased by the power you have in your main account.  XD  I know I was, I couldn't bring myself to keep playing past Venus on my newbie PS4 account.  I got similar mods as you've shown and my weapons were just barely ok (needed other player's help to complete missions.)

 

I still don't have redirection though.  =(  (yeah I started the PS4 account before they give you one during the tutorial, etc.  Do they really give you one during the tutorial now?)

Yeah, I watched the livestream and I like what they are doing. They also mentioned some quests, which might have some mod rewards as well.
