Is Valkyr Hysteria Really Worth It?

Question

Posted

So, I'm a rather new player (who loves to make money in trading, I'm such a cheapskate) and I'm rather fond of melee. This game seems to be a bit more focused on ranged combat but it's still fun.

However, the more I look at Hysteria the less end-game potential I see in it. The highest I've gone is Tower 2 capture, but based on survival and ever scaling mobs, I've kinda thought about it and 300 damage seems to be a bit meager. Compared to some of my melee weapons (I've got one currently up to 1.4k damage), it's damage seems to do amazing early but rather poorly late game.

Using the Dual Ichors as my example, with all the crit mods considered, I'm seeing a total of up to 2k damage a strike. I can't tell if this is good but I assume no, as my damage is getting close with poor upgrades. Seems like it's purpose is more of an "OMG TOO MUCH DAMAGE MAYDAY MAYDAY" ability. LIke a scapegoat. That and compared to ranged weapons, weapon stances, and just your weapons themselves (which I bet can be more damage), I'm a bit loss.

I assume that's the tradeoff for being immortal, but Rhino kinda has that down along with some other tricks. So, is there anything viable in late-game Hysteria as the focal point? Or melee in general. Thanks for all the input!

Hysteria gets your damage from melee so most Valkyr players use Dual ichors along with a few other weapons try using both Hysteria and Warcry at the same time or just Warcry for it's Armor/speed boost  She can be a handy team player if build and used right.

This is my current build and it serves me quite well in T3 surv for Def I use Loki but that's just me

Went 60 minutes into a T4 survival mission recently, and that was just me and another friend, at the end I was the only one dealing damage with hysteria. Basically you have to knock enemies down with a ground slam and then use the ground execution, basic attacks don't do squat.

I can't really say if it's worth it or not, I personally never remove any of my Warframe abilities, U14 is supposed to include reworks to the entire ability, so we'll see how it improves once that come out.

I've been playing Valkyr quite a bit recently as well. Long story short, it can be, but it's hard to build for it. and generally, never end-game.

While hysteria can be effective for combat, it's damage is just lacking to be end-game, the main issue being that it's damage doesn't scale with mods. It's mostly as a panic button in most situations regarding end-game.Realistically though, It's better to build your melee weapon for endgame, which is significantly easier imo.  Admittedly it does scale with weapons, which is a plus, but it's still not enough of a boost to call it a saving grace though.

I've actually found a fairly stable build that work extremely well when paired with a Disarm Loki and is reliable without. This build let me do most if not all survivals, Void or not, up to 40+ minutes solo so long as Life support was kept up. I won't go into too much detail here, but it allows for Valkyr to be a bit more diverse in combat style. Most of the damage comes from a weapon with Life Strike, which provides health, which allows for Rage to give you energy, which goes back into channeling for Life Strike.

This is the build here

On WFBuilder: http://goo.gl/7S8frZ

and explained in more depth on TennoArmory: http://www.tennoarmory.com/melee-goddess/

The best part of this build is, it doesn't have insane energy consumption, and the weapon can be changed to appropriately to match the faction you're facing, or in the case of the Corrupted, the tougher of the enemies.

I've been using this build when I'm playing Valkyr and it's held up quite well. And when paired with a Disarm Loki or Radial Blind Excal... well the results are quite devastating.

As a direct comparison it is worth noting that Rhino's Iron Skin is far from invulnerability, in fact even at lower T3/4 levels it will quickly be removed if you try and tank hits too much. It has the advantages of avoiding procs and environmentals but at that point Rhino must be mobile or it will get overwhelmed.

You recover life while attacking so you can use Hysteria as a clutch when running low to avoid dying or once you get to upper levels just recast it to remain invulnerable pretty much all the time. While Hysteria can seem low damage it is worth noting that compared to most nuke ultimates you can hit multiple times and easily set up to have around a minute with it up per cast.

It is getting a rework in terms of animations and presumably the mechanics of it as well but as it stands it definitely has a place in high level play and you can even be the hero who can do revives and not have to stress.
