What in your opinion would be the best secondary weapon ever? I find them totally useless, but what's your opinion?

In terms of pure damage, brakk is the strongest weapon in the game and also a secondary. It's quite rare though. When you hit mastery 5, try marelok, it's also quite good.

 

My personal favorite is Twin Gremlins. They're fairly powerful, fun to use, and they look cool IMO

Akmagnus are my favorite...not OP like Brakk but strong enough

If you like suicide and charge weapons, grab a stug. It can go beast mode and crit for massive amounts.

Brakk has the best DPS overall, but has as a strong falloff. Never forget that.

 

Stug is not oftenly mentionned, but that thing is actually able to dish out a crapton of damage. With the right mods you would be able to get more than 22k DPS by simply spamming mouse 1. Just be careful to not dissolve yourself with it. Angstrum is also a nice choice, but it's not the most easy to use (you may have trouble between two shots). If you're still not satified, try Akbolto, Akmagnus, Akvasto or Akbronco prime.

I have alot of fun with the Detron (against grineer), the despair, marelok, vasto, lato vandal, angstrum, stug, dex furis and akstilleto.

 but for now my favourite is the Twin Viper Wraith. Ammo Mutation is a must have on this one but i just love it. extremely high amount of damage in a quick time but you have to get used to it. you cant just stand there and hold down the mousebutton. you need to use it on closer ranges and only with very quick bursts. 

Soma and penta aside but sometimes i think that secondarys are far more useful than most primarys.

not once has anyone mentioned Kunai! that was my go to for sooo long. although that was 2 years ago when it ancients were the toughest enemies in the game. kunai was like the only weapon that could easily slay ancients.

Now though? not sure.

Akvasto, check out MMogamu's youtube vid on the akvasto, nice build he has for it.

Mod for multishot and crit. fast fire rate and woth a good reload mod on there it feels lke a neverending clip. very strong tapers out at about lvl 25 enemies though

Akbronco Prime are totally worth all the grind imo. When a regular Bronco Prime can wreck the harvester in around a second or less, two can do much, much more. c:

Bronco Prime has higher DPS than Akbronco Prime. ./facepalm.

 

Akbronco Prime has some sweet status tho

 

Castanas are an awesome choice. AoE, 100% stun, and controlled trigger for traplaying. Lots of fun there, as well as effective.

 

Also really nice to have when you're downed. You can stun multiple approaches, making it safe for teammates to revive you.

+1 to angstrum. it is my go-to choice to any defense missions, so i can keep my primary for tougher single targets, while also able to one-shot half waves.

Any of the Lex series or Akstiletto. Lex Prime can give Vectis a run for it's money, especially with a status build. Akstiletto just feels good and pairs nicely with high fire rate primaries.

Alot of the time, whats the best DPS secondary depends on..

 

1: Will you be using a potato

2: Will you be using 4 forma to bring it to maximum potential

3: Do you have all the Maxed pistol mods that matter, Damage, 2x Multishot, 3x Elemental 90%, Bane and a 60% or other maxed mod of choice.

4: What level of content are you aiming for?

 

this is probably more important as some weapons come with 2 Polarity when they are made, meaning they will do far more damage simply because you can fit more Mods on.  Other weapons only really shine when you use a Potato.

 

the level of the enemies your facing determine if you want, burst dps (damage per second in clip) or Sustained dps(damage per second including reloads) and the type of missions also means some lower damage weapons are better because they have better ammo Economy.

 

In my opinion, the weapons everyone should at least try

 

Explosive weapons - All can kill you

Stugg - Very high dps and burst dps, but hard to use and the damage has a delay, but fun fun fun!

Angstrum - idiotic game-breaking burst dps, and great ammo economy, but rubbish fire mechanic

Castana's - the weakest of the Explosive weapons but also the easiest to use and control

 

Dual weapons - Dual weapons generally offer the most burst damage in warfarm

Akbronco prime - 55k+ burst damage and decent sized clip makes these shotgun pistols amazing, but moderate reload lowers dps and poor range

Akbolto - 30-40k burst dps with a 42 clip makes these one of the best secondary's, perhaps the best weapons, but long reload, and bolts have travel time

Akvasto - solid 40k burst but only a small clip accurate easy to use hit-scan weapons are an easy favorite

Akmagnus - similar to Akvasto but more reliant on crit and plagued by long reload

 

Singles - worth mentioning

Marelok - pocket sniper, very high damage, good all round only real drawback is the slow fire rate which is not great for flanking or rushing into combat.

Brakk - with around 60k burst and 30k damage this is one of the most damaging weapons in game, but it has very short range and damage falloff which makes it impractical at medium and long range.

 

Brakk and Akbronco prime come with 2 polarity's and Marelok, Angstrum and Akbolto come with 1

 

I also suggest you try AkStiletto, Akfuris, Embolist and Dual Cestra, they aren't any good but they are amazing fun to use.

akmagnus is generally underrated. its got both excellent status and crit. i like to use them more than even my marelok most of the time. akstilettos used to be my favorite it's still great due to high status chance.

i agree with this, but i have to note that the type of the polarity also matters. i almost always forma out D polarities of weapons to V, because

1, the only mod i ever use on guns with D polarity is the ice damage (not counting life strike, but i use it unranked), and if it is in the first place, it messes up the combo elements

2, the highest rank mods on weapons are always V. if the weapon has 2 V-s built in (such as despair/kunai) it is far more beneficial then a D (angstrum)

Castanas are great fun, akstilletos are awesome, akboltos are great too.

I would say the Despair, but since the Stalker always ends our dance short by either leaving early or not paying for the dinner (killing me or dropping nothing), I will say the Kunai's are still pretty fun to use once you get use to the arc at which the weapon fires.

 

The Castanas on the other hand are my favourite secondary weapon (if not my favourite weapon in the entire game) so far, just hillarious to go invis with Loki or Ash and watch the enemies melt behind cover while there friends don't suspect a thing. A plus is that the weapon is silent aswell so great for stealth runs and it's damage is lightning so great for elemental combos. Downside you need to be in a clan with the research already unlocked and it requires a forma to make. It's also completely funny when you kill yourself with it xD

 

But it ultimately comes down from what you enjoy:

Do you enjoy killing groups of enemies? Then go with the Castanas/ Stug/ Angstrum.

Do you enjoy single shot, hard hitting weapons? Then go Brakk/ Lex/ ens.

Do you enjoy weapons that make you feel like a real ninja? Then go Kunai/ Hikou/ Despair (if he likes you and decides to drop it)
