The Four Edged Sword [Boss Concept]

Hi thanks for reading!

The Four Edged Sword is a small band of outcasts turned mercenary!
They fight for an incredibly high fee, and use their wealth to influence the solar system towards their shady goals.

The team consists of four members, Scope (AKA the hunter), Darrog Nhym, Alo Zadnik, and Hal Haryl, all of whom are extremely capable fighters.

They have been a nuisance to the Tenno cause for years now.
But relations with them became more intense recently when they made an unprovoked attack against us, and slaughtered an entire Tenno clan.

You fight each of them individually in their own special set of invasion type alert missions that follow a specific pattern.
First Scope’s mission pops up, then Darrog’s mission, then Alo’s, then Hal’s, and then Scope’s again.

These missions will have the Grineer fighting the Corpus in an endless battle.
Your target will be fighting for one side, and you will be fighting for the other.
To complete the missions you must defeat your target, and get to extraction.

Each mission stays up for one hour, and a new one starts every half hour.
This should create a constant two-at-a-time cycle, that can’t be farmed but doesn't use a RNG grind wall.

The location of these missions is random, they can take place anywhere on the star chart, and they will adopt the tile set of the planet they take place on.

These missions can only be played once, win or lose, and when you're done you will need to wait for the alert to pop up again.

When you click on the alert you will be given two payment options.

Option 1: Battle pay.
You’re given a randomly selected item from the faction you fight for, regardless of whether you win or not.
This can be anything from fieldron, to an orokin catalyst.

Option 2: Salvage rights.
This gives you a piece of their weapon tech, or even the weapon’s blueprint if you are really, really, lucky.
But this is only given to you, if you actually succeed.

If you win you will also get a piece of a key no matter which payment method you choose.

Once you have a key piece from every member you can build the four edged sword hideaway key.
This key operates much like your average void key, and lets you enter their stolen Tenno dojo that they now use as a base of operations.

Here you fight them all at once.
If you win this four way boss fight then you will get a guaranteed weapon blueprint.

=====Scope=====

Appearance:

fuaset.jpgThanks goes to my brother!

Combat:

Scope is a sniper trapper who is nearly impossible to get close to.
She has 2 teleport skills that run on separate cooldowns.
One she uses to reposition herself into better sniping spots if she hasn't taken health damage in a while, and the other is reserved solely for escape.
If she is repositioning then she will teleport somewhere that has line of sight with one or more Tenno, but if she is escaping then she will teleport to somewhere that does not have line of sight, and she will always teleport to a location that is a considerable distance from any Tenno.
Her taipan rifle has a 100% poison status chance, and she has a habit of switching targets after every shot.
This allows her to keep a constant shield bypassing damage over time effect on a large number of targets.
She will also occasionally throw a bone like dart with deadly precision.
If this dart hits a Tenno then it will start to open up and inflate like a balloon.
It directly feeds off of the Tenno's health bar and heals itself as it does.
The parasite can be rolled off or shot off by an ally, but once it reaches 50% heath rolling no longer becomes an option.
Once it reaches full health it pops open, and a small spider monster falls off and starts to bite at the ankles of her enemies until dead.
She will also set up an extensive array of acid mines in varies locations if she has the time to do so.
If a Tenno comes too close to one of the mines, then it will detonate dealing a burst of corrosive damage.
Shooting the mines will cause them to detonate as well.
If a Tenno get too close to Scope then she will switch targets to them and pull out her almiqui dart gun.
She will fire the full clip and then use her escape teleport to get away.
The almiqui is a deadly weapon that can kill pretty much anyone in the blink of an eye if they don’t have some way of blocking it, but after she uses it she will need to reload it which takes a good long time.
If you find her while she is still reloading then she will throw down a wide range smoke bomb that obscures vision, and deals gas damage over time to anyone inside it.
If you get up to her while her smoke screen, and teleport are both on cooldown then she will unload whatever she has left in her revolver, and then start trying to shoot you at close range with her sniper rifle.
If you don’t want to run through her gantlet of tricks, then you can bring your own sniper rifle to the battle, and fight a sniper war with her.
This can be difficult because she will use her escape teleport to take cover if she takes health damage, only to return once her shields are back up.

Lore:

Scope is only a nickname given to her by Darrog, before that she was only known as the Hunter.
She is the founder of the mercenary group that has come to be known as the four edged sword.
No one knows what her true intentions are, but we know that the Hunter has been a threatening presence in the solar system since before the Tenno awoke from their slumber.
We don't know whether this Hunter is the same one that plagued the system over two hundred years ago, or whether she is simply a successor to a long line of Hunters.
Through extensive analysis we have discovered that there is a pattern to the jobs she takes.
We don't know what her plan is, but it’s in direct conflict with our operations.
We also know that she has a remarkable resilience to many, if not all, scanning technology. Which is one of the reasons why we know so little about her.
Another bizarre characteristic of hers is the fact that she incorporates an altered strain of the technocyte virus in her weaponry.
We don't know if she created this new strain, if she found it, or if she stole it, but we do know that it’s very dangerous.
This new strain is less aggressive than the original, but it is also more controlled, and worst of all, it has the power to corrode Warframes!
She has recently picked up a habit of sheltering powerful outcasts, and allowing them to reach their full potential.
Even without help from her allies she is still a deadly opponent that should never be taken lightly.

=====Darrog Nhym=====

Appearance:

pugc0.jpgThanks goes to my brother!

Combat:

Darrog is an oppressive tank that is hard to ignore, and even harder to kill.

He has high armor, and an incredibly high health pool that can take forever to deplete.

His shields aren't anything special, but if you don’t hurt him for a few seconds he starts to regenerate health over time.

This health regen gets more and more powerful the longer you go without dealing direct health damage to him.

So if you’re going to target Darrog you will need to be willing to commit to that decision.

Darrog does not take kindly to those who attack his teammates, and will prioritize them over other possible opponents.

Darrog is insanely fast, and he jumps to his targets once he gets close enough to do so.

Everyone he lands on will easily be knocked over, giving him a chance to hack at them with his claws.

Darrog’s tail is almost always lashing back and forth, and anyone who tries to get behind him will find it very hard to stay on their feet.

Darrog will occasionally spin in a circle and swipe his tail at everyone around him.

The more enemies within range of this attack, the greater the chances of him using it.

He will rear up on his hind legs, and pull out his war-ender hand cannons if his target gets into a place he can’t path to or if they somehow manage to out run him for long enough.

The explosive blast from Darrog’s war-enders is powerful enough to stun a Tenno, and toss into the air.

Darrog’s wide array of trips, staggers, and knock downs can make him a rather difficult opponent to fight.

Probably the best strategy is to send your own tank to block his constant crowd  as your team tries to take him down from a distance.

It’s very important that your team keeps focus on him, because if you start to pester his friend he will be on you faster than a angry chicken.

Lore:

Darrog was a Grineer scientist that was part of a research group, tasked with solving the genetic degradation problem.
Most of the group members like the now renowned Tyl Regor thought that the best way to solve the problem was to manually repair the genetic structure of the preexisting Grineer clones.
But Darrog disagreed.
He felt that the DNA of the current Grineer had decayed too much to save for any extended period of time.
So his plan was to make new Grineer, better, stronger, and smarter than before!
Creating a genetic code from the ground up was next to impossible, so Darrog turned his sights on the creatures of Earth.
Fresh blood that could be cloned for another thousand years or more!
He spent years obsessing over his work, tailoring the genes of hundreds of different species.
Mixing them, splicing them, perfecting them...
And when his project was finally complete, he sent 12 prototype clones with his memories to be reviewed.
He was proud of his work, and he thought for sure that they would be the future of Grineer dominance.
He was wrong.
After extensive testing the Grineer scientific community discovered that the new clones were 16.4% more likely to differ from, or even disobey orders.
The project was rejected, and the remaining clones were to be euthanized.
Most of the Darrog clones refused to let the project be disbanded.
The Grineer took this as further proof of their defectiveness, and sent a small army to kill them.
Most of the clones were killed in that fight, and many of the survivors were hunted down, and killed, by Tenno, Grineer, and Mercenaries alike.
But there was one clone, who faced the greatest opponent of all.
He found himself face to face with the Hunter!
The battle lasted hours before Darrog finally fell, the poison in his blood incapacitating him.
Scope held up a pistol with enough toxin to push him over the edge.
But instead of killing him and completing her objective, she spared his life, and granted him asylum.
No one knows exactly why, some think she felt sorry for him, others believe that she is incapable of emotion and simply saw the potential in him.
Darrog was safe now that he had help from such a feared legend, but the Grineer are not known for their grace in defeat.
In a spiteful move against him, the Grineer army discontinued the cloning of the original Darrog, and destroyed all of his research.
Darrog is still loyal to the Grineer in his own twisted way despite this, and he ruthlessly fights for and against them in a neverending struggle to show the superiority of his design.
His ultimate goal is to facilitate Grineer dominance over the entire system by convincing them to use his research.

Weapon Drops:

War-Ender pistols, and the Demonstrator arm braces. (both scaled down to Tenno size of course)

=====Alo Zadnik=====

Appearance:

t6dxmu.jpgThanks goes to my brother!

Combat:

Alo is a supportive technician that can turn the tide of battle with a constant stream of buffs and abilities.
Alo doesn't have any weapons of his own, he instead relies on his sentinel to defend him from any nearby threats.
He also has a team of four Tody drones that all deal relatively small amounts of damage but have decently high proc chances.
The Static Tody uses a long range grenade launcher that deals an explosive blasts of electric damage, the Frigid Tody uses a medium range semiautomatic ice shard gun that deals cold damage, the Thermal Tody uses short range flamethrower that deals continuous fire damage, and the Plagued Tody uses melee claw attacks that deal poison damage.
All of the Todies give Alo stacking damage reduction while they are alive.
The Static Tody gives 100% electric resistance, 50% corrosive, magnetic, and radiation damage resistance, as well as 25% damage resistance for all the physical damage types.
The Frigid Tody gives 100% cold resistance, 50% blast, magnetic, and viral damage resistance, as well as 25% damage resistance for all the physical damage types.
The Thermal Tody gives 100% fire resistance, 50% blast, gas, and radiation damage resistance, as well as 25% damage resistance for all the physical damage types.
The Plagued Tody gives 100% poison resistance, 50% corrosive, gas, and viral damage resistance, as well as 25% damage resistance for all the physical damage types.
This means that while all four Todies are alive Alo is completely invincible!
Alo’s Todies and sentinel can easily be destroyed, but Alo can quickly rebuild them one at a time.
During the fight Alo can give four different elemental damage buffs to his allies but he can’t apply two elemental buffs to the same person at the same time.
These buffs will add additional fire, cold, electric, or poison damage to all of that ally’s attacks and will mix with other elements that they may already use.
These buffs aren't that potent, but Alo can reapply them as soon as they wear off.
Alo is especially fond of putting these buffs onto his Todies , but he can and will apply them to other people as well.
He can also grant an ally a very significant speed boost, but the effect is fleeting and the skill has a relatively long cooldown.
One of Alo’s most powerful supportive abilities is his Hex-Shield, which is made of several holographic hexagons floating in the shape of a globe.
Each hex plate has its own health bar, and will block any projectiles that hit it.
Once a hex has absorbed as much damage as it can, it goes into a dormant state, becoming even more transparent and allowing projectiles to pass through it while it slowly regenerates its health.
These hexagons have large gaps in between them that you can shoot through.
The catch is that they rotate, distributing damage and making it hard to shoot through the gaps.
Tenno can move through the shield, so sometimes its more effective to bypass it by getting into melee range.
Alo can transfer the shield at any time.
He normally gives it to whoever is taking the most damage, but he will always prioritize himself.
So any damage he takes will warrant transferring the shield back to him.
Transferring doesn't change the amount of health the hexagons have so sometimes that is useless.
Alo’s Achilles sentinel will also be using guardian to restore Alo’s normal shields, and its Alexander’s Arrow ability to deal negligible damage to an enemy, marking it with a debuff that increase all of the damage it takes for a short duration.
Alexander’s Arrow’s cooldown matches its duration when unranked, and that is what Alo’s Achilles sentinel uses.
In short, Alo is a real pain to kill, but if you leave him alone then he will use his wide array of light damage and small buffs to turn the tide of the battle.

Lore:

Alo was once a respected member of the upper class Corpus society.
He made new, and exciting tech that easily sold for top dollar.
Investors were fighting with each other to give their support, and Zadnik was very wealthy indeed.
But one day Zadnik looked at the prototype for a new weapon.
He had spent months on its development, and now he was just going to sell it to some warlord who could never appreciate it as much as it deserved.
Zadnik stared at the credit balance of his overflowing bank accounts, but he found no joy in it.
The once sweet taste of profit had lost its flavor, and Zadnik was left craving something else.
Innovation and progress.
And so Zadnik did the unthinkable!
He rejected profit, and started to hoard all that he made to himself.
Investors asked eagerly when the next models were to be released, but all Alo would ever tell them is that he was working on it, and that it he would have something for them soon.
This lie kept them them satisfied for a little while, but soon the investors began to pull their funding, and the longer Alo went without producing anything to show them, the quicker they left.
But Alo didn’t care.
The only thing he needed money for was to buy more of the required materials for his research, and he had very deep pockets.
Surely he could continue his work for a good long time.
But as his passion for progress became more impressive so did the costs for his escapades.
His bank account dwindled until he could no longer buy a pack of alloy plate let alone the expensive materials he needed.
So he borrowed money as a quick fix.
But he didn't repay a single credit, and soon the last remnants of credibility he once had with Corpus society was gone.
No one would lend money to a washed up scientist, and he had creditors that wanted to collect.
Ideas raced in his mind, but he couldn't create them.
It was a maddening torture that drove him to mercenary work.
Because after all, he had all of this beautiful weapon tech that hadn't ever been used in a real firefight.
He used favors to pay off his debts, and soon was back to work.
It was a sweet setup.
First he would create, then he would test his invention on the battlefield, once he did the job he would get paid, and then he would use the funds to start the cycle over again.
But being a mercenary is a dangerous game.
Alo had attracted the attention of some powerful people.
Among them were the Hunter, and her pet monster.
He dodged the encounter as long as he could, but eventually he ran into them.
He had heard the stories, he knew how easily they could take him down
But to his surprise she made him an offer that he couldn't refuse.

=====Hal Haryl=====

Appearance:

(No pics yet :L)

Lore:

Hal once was one of the many Grineer slaves who worked on the shipyards.
He had always been a clever boy, a trait that the Grineer... discouraged.
But all the torture that they put him through only taught him one thing, subtlety.
An ability that he rarely uses today.
The Grineer thought they had broken his spirit… they were wrong.
He stayed out of trouble, followed orders, blended in with the crowd, and analyzed his situation.
The Grineer underestimated him, and he knew he could use that to his advantage.
Hal stockpiled as many materials as he could, and as the years passed he acquired quite a collection.
To the Grineer it just looked like a pile of junk that kept one of the slaves calm, and complacent.
But to Hal it looked like a way out, and once he got the last piece of broken junk that he needed he finally put his plan into motion.
He worked all through the night building parts to something, and by the time the Grineer realized what he was up to it was too late.
Small spider like robots scuttled through the prison.
Hal gained more, and more control as they rushed to their designated locations.
The Grineer knew that Hal was controlling them from within his cell, but there was nothing they could do about it.
The autokill contingencies wouldn't work, the doors wouldn't open, and any equipment that they could use to break it down was under Hal’s control before they even thought to use it.
But then they had a new problem, Hal had used his spider bots to hack into their long range communications, and declared to the world that the commander of the site was in open rebellion with the queens’ rule.
This caught the attention of a passing shipment of Grineer reinforcements.
At first they were skeptical that a Grineer with such a high rank as the commander would try anything so ridiculous as rebellion.
But when they arrived the automated defenses opened fire upon them.
Crushing any doubt that they may have had.
The following chaos allowed Hal to slip away, along with several other prisoners.
Hal was regarded as a hero by the Red Veil, and they gave him shelter from the Grineer search parties.
Here the young mastermind developed his strange tech, and became something of a legend.
Since the Red Veil was in need of soldiers they asked him if he wanted to help them try to free more slaves from bondage.
Hal agreed eagerly.
The Red Veil had no idea what they were in for.
At first the mission was going as planned, until Hal came in.
He was supposed to cause a distraction so that the other operatives could free the prisoners.
But Hal had other plans...
Hal began to use his impossible tech to murder the Grineer in droves, with little to no regard for who he killed in the process.
It was a massacre of epic proportions.
No one returned from that operation save for Hal, but after what he did, the Red Veil wanted nothing to do with him, and he was on his own once again
He was armed, dangerous, and more than a little crazy.
Now that Hal was free, he refused to let anything restrict him, not even his own conscience.
He killed anyone who got in his way, and took whatever he needed to survive.
This reckless lifestyle got him into a lot of trouble.
And apparently someone hated him enough to hire Scope and the others to track him down, and kill him.
It took almost a half year, but they finally caught up with him, and when he had nowhere left to hide…
Scope made him a deal.
Now Hal fights for the sake of the kill, destroying anything Scope points him at.
Hal is the one who first called the group the four edged sword.
Finally giving their enemies a name to fear.
He may be a loose cannon, but one must never underestimate his genius, and twisted mind.

Interesting concept...  might need a bit of tweaking but I wouldn't mind this concept being fleshed out a bit more.

A question and a complaint respectively, though:

Were they always independent mercenaries, or were some or all of them former Corpus employees? Just some of their names sound very Corpus to me.

I don't think their camp should really be a Tenno Dojo they cleared out themselves. Tenno are supposed to be among the most powerful beings in the galaxy, so however good these guys are I seriously doubt even they would be strong enough to slaughter a small station full of soldiers and assassins commanding power not of our reality without losing a single one of their own. (unless perhaps they used to be an entire mercenary corporation hired to strike a Tenno Dojo, and only these four survived, declared themselves a new galactic power, and claimed the newly-vacated Dojo as their own?)

Yes, I definitely intend to.

Well the idea was that it was a small clan of Ill prepared, low rank, Tenno that where caught off guard.

They won through tactics, not brute strength.

Re-read and am liking it. I can actually picture a few lines for at least the Grineer and Corpus ones. Not sure what flavor of crazy the fourth guy would be, either raving lunatic or deceptively polite, and I imagine Scope would probably speak as little as possible, like maybe one to three words per pop-up. That's just me though; if you have plans already I can't wait to see them!

and "I could sell your corpse to the highest bidder, but I may want to study it myself. decision, decision..."

Well he's definitely not polite lol.

He would say stuff like... "Oh That's right, you Tenno are mute! >mumbles> man... The screaming is my favorite part..."

Dead on! And what she does say is very soulless and tactical like "target acquired" and "adjusting for movement patterns"

That's just me though; if you have plans already I can't wait to see them!

I will try my best!

Maybe even when Alo dies he could say something like "My creditors... aren't going to like this..."

Couple things I thought of:

Alo's Sentinel's weapon might need a different name since Deconstructor is already the name of Helios' weapon. Disintigrator, perhaps?

Also I just though of something you could consider for Hal's lines: since he's a mastermind/controller type fighter, he doesn't seem to be the type that would get into direct combat very often, instead relying upon his drones and hacked hardware to do all the dirty work for him. That said, he has probably developed an invincibility complex of sorts due to the protection his machines provide, and having a Tenno successfully break into his chambers and assault him directly would quickly shatter them.

in short, he's probably going to have a mental breakdown of sorts once you actually reach him and start fighting him, and his unmanly screams defeat lines could reflect that.

Oh really? That's a problem... rename imminent.

Actually Hal is more like a In-your-face-then-bombes-then-gone-oh-crap-where-is-he? sort of fighter.

Think mad bomber with stealth, and a jet pack.

Ah, ok then. I just imagined as a Mastermind type he would at least have a low pain tolerance. Then again, he is using stealth and subturfuge as a primary battle tactic...
