Too inconsistent.

The weapons have gotten better and better. The frames have diversified and I like all of them except Ash. Orokin, Grineer, Corpus and Infested styles, as well as mixed styles, all look good to me... but as a whole the game just looks very hap hazard and that ends up being a big detractor for me.

Golds are inconsistent, physics are broken on dangly parts, some weapons are drastically inferior in quality like Hind. Some weapons make no sense, like Seer with such a cool story and style ending up just being physical damage to a single target. Placement (market/clan tech) doesn't make sense sometimes, like the Cestra/Dual Cestra. Elements forced to show on melee weapons and muzzel flash irks me.

I consider all these things part of the 'art' because lore and sound and feel are art too, not just graphics and models.

I am tempted to say clipping, but thinking carefully they do seem to have gone on the warpath to correct a lot of the worst clipping and bad animations since I started playing a year ago. i see it less and less and less. I think Boar Prime still breaks your wrist and looks silly, but that's all I can think of. Some warframe animation sets will put weapon stocks through their forearms and some of the female frames still put stocks through their boobs, but that's usually avoidable by picking a different animation set.

i'd like a higher Polygon budget on some things(and i'd change the look of this and that), primarily Warframes and some of the level geometry - but overall, yes, i do quite enjoy the visuals.

higher fidelity on everything certainly isn't necessary - conveying your message in a tasteful way is, and Warframe does this, with more detail on top of that, which can never hurt.

it also can't hurt that Warframe isn't using a visual style that has been beat to death.

VKhaun brings up a major issue Warframe has though, there's little consistency anywhere. consistency adds to the visual fidelity, as it's harder to notice visual issues if everything is similar to each other. but if you have say, one rock that is 4x as detailed as another, one of them sticks out like a sore thumb, and it could be either that looks out of place.

so consistent visuals is also important. higher resolution this and that doesn't matter if it doesn't look like it belongs with the game. which is why 8-bit games are still being made(not that i approve of them personally though), because if you have a consistent style, it can work.

Graphics? What graphics? all I see is bloom.

xD

Strength Modifiers, some day. some day. apparently this day is infinity ahead - that day probably also has SMAA and other infinitely superior AA methods to the low quality FXAA Warframe natively supports, which we've been told should find their way into the game - but we were told that more than a year ago e.e

Personally I think the orokin tilesets could be a bit more detailed.

But overall, it's a pretty decent looking game, and it runs bloody fantastically. Whoever made this engine is a god.

The style suits it, too. I've had people wonder about how it would look with a more realistic style, but I don't think it'd work.

A game like this, I don't think it would be the same if it looked like crysis 3 or if it looked like dungeon defenders. It's just right.

I want more bloom

I like how the game looks except for Bloom. I wish there was a option to set the amount of Bloom because I don't like how the game looks without Bloom and it disturbs me how it looks with Bloom on.

I have no idea what I'm saying...

I think it looks really bad, my eyes bleed - until I turn off bloom, colour correction, depth of field, motion blur, dynamic lighting and weapon trails.

Only with all this horrid fluff turned off does this game look (to me at least) both good and more realistic, also my eyes don't wanna' jump out and smash the screen. Otherwise the actual art style is very good even with its inconsistencies.

You mean you want a bloom "slider" in the options

The gore effects astound me most of all because most games arent very annotomically correct and once you split someone in half in all ways then you get a really gruesome but oddly beautiful effect depending on the weapon used. The thing they need most for graphics are sliders rather than high to low/off and just on/off. it gives everyone the best in graphical happiness for customizability. And to one of the older post: there is a good reason why some weapons are retired.

I'm surprised my computer can run the game at all.  It chugs along in Firefall if I set the graphics over anything except low, and if more than three people show up in Guild Wars 2 I'm in the single digit framerate.  Yet I'm able to play so smoothly I can actually time my hits and create combos with melee attacks instead of furiously clicking my mouse between a really fast slideshow of the game.

Learn to use options.

For almost a year now i'm playing without Bloom, without Anti-Aliasing, without motion blur, and without a setting about a distance blur (don't remember how it's called and i'm not at home currently to check it out, but it annoys because it gives a huge blur when using sniper-rifles)

I disable those settings to make the game look cleaner. Performance wise it doesn't change anything to me.

I play with all graphics options on and turned to high and none of them have bothered me. Bloom just looks like any other game but maybe it needs all the other options on to not look weird. Motion Blur doesn't seem to work how it should unless you're getting good fps.

The art though, I love it! It's unique , I get to play as a bunch of really awesome characters, the tile sets are interesting and look amazing with local reflections on. Most of the frames have good texture quality, Ash not so much, but it does seem like they could use slightly higher poly counts on some of them. But overall I can tell DE goes the extra mile to make sure most things visually jive with each other and try new things artistically.
