Concept art for Tenno Katana & Wakizashi a few Devstreams back:

Katana.JPG

What ever happened to this concept... This was something i was looking EXTREMELY forward to... If this ever does get put in game, will it have a seperate stance like a Wakizashi stance? I think that it would be best if it did as these were not used like an average sword.

The weapon should also have its own actual stance and weapon placement when it is equipped:samurai_by_skaya3000-d5ccbf1.jpgThis is the weapon placement on the samurai as it was done in the past with the katana on the bottom and the wakizashi non the top

While this is the stance they took when wielding the blades (katana in right hand, wakizashi in left): (Tom Cruise lol)last-samurai-quiz.jpg

pretty sure that's just the nikana and dragon nikana in game, just unsheathed in the picture.

Have you actually had those weapons? They are equal in length, save for a few centimetres.

Yeah we have enough swords... Katanas and baby katanas just aren't gonna cut it anymore, we need something less 14th century and something more 24th century.

I have to disagree. Modernized versions of older weapons were always welcome in the community's eyes, and usually with good reason.

"Give us more futuristic weapons with technology we've not yet witnessed that don't even make sense!"

Someone (DE) needs to relay tweaks to Decisive Judgement's animation. Only the top-down hack of Silent Acumen actually looks good. The draw however...

DE can do better than copy weapons that we have in a million games already, looking forward to more innovative weapon concepts.

you both do realize players have been begging for a Katana since the game came out of closed beta right. Plus the Katana is such an elegant and innovative weapon that theres a reason why its been in so many games and movies.

Post irrelevant i guess - Removing statement

On topic however, channeling would be very interesting with this combo if weapons, no? Perhaps theyd be as interesting to channel with as the dragon nikana, if not more

How about a sword that functions like a tuning fork, and stores energy from parrying to unleash a wave of impact damage?

I think I'll go draw this hmm. Maybe not. We'll see.

To add to the list of useless weapons in the game?

Sure why not. Mastery fodder is always nice.

Don't mean to be rude, Warframe was kinda founded on the idea of "wouldn't this be cool"; that's also why it's so broken.

Please stay on the topic of the OP

There is precedent for wielding katana & wakizashi together, miyamoto musashi s niten ichi ryu is the best known but there are also techniques in TSKSR which is 1 of the oldest koryu (older martial arts, this one is deemed a national treasure of japan)

I would like a nikana/wakizashi weapon with sheaths worn samurai style & its own stance (even if i feel it would be a pain to farm)

They have to feature everything what fans want, doesnt matter if they have their own vision of the game, right?

Copying the Mongols is innovative now :P

Actually, that's the very definition of innovative. Taking something that someone else has done... and finding a way to do it better. That kind of defines Japanese technological advancement as a whole, actually. They take what other people have done, and make improvements to them.

The katana was developed from the chokuto, which was an imported iron Chinese straight sword with a single edge. Inventive? No. Innovative? Hell yes.

If they ever release a "Dual Nikana" weapon, they should definitely have it be a katana/wakizashi pair.

it's been in a lot of games because of people claiming it to be the ultimate sword and the media portrays it as so. It's popularity got it in tons of games, when I'm pretty sure quite a lot of swords can outclass the katana in many aspects.

EDIT: With that said, I like the nikana in warframe, but I believe 1 is enough. It's best to go for swords that people have never even heard of instead of making a very well known sword down a hundred times
