Kyphe
As many have come to realize the sword alone idea is killed by some basic flaws in game design. You can not kill sensors with swords, so you can not destroy disruption doors and laser barriers, you have a really hard time killing flying enemy and toxin proc is the nail in the coffin. However after a mess around with the lowest level specters i found their behavior regarding things like cameras and i got an idea. Have the sentinels attack door sensors!,mark them as an enemy just like the cameras and turrets and let your pet clear the way for you. Perhaps have a sentinel mod or cross skill which is targeted against flying enemy's which may kil them or bring them down where you can hit them. As for toxin clouds would be nice if block protected you and dispersed them by fanning them away. I love melee combat but I always have to bring a primary or secondary in this game. MDRLOz
Some options: 1) Get a glaive/kestrel. 2) Try using a wall attack (yes that's a thing). Does not always work and takes skill but can be used 3) You can slide spin attack/Zoren through laser doors and you wont get knocked down 4) DE could just add properly aerial melee stuff instead of changing sentinel AI. Dalu__Ka
Have to disagree with you on this one. You can kill flying mobs, sensors and cameras with any melee weapon. It is one of my favorite things to do, a way of giving myself an extra challenge. And having sentinels deal with those targets isn't really "the sword alone", more like "the sword and sentinel together". TheErebus.
That isn't sword alone. I'm a melee only user and to make sure I get the kills, I've removed all offensive mods on my sentinels. Also, you can kill/destroy all those things with melee. it's probably that you can't aim your swings correctly at them (I can easily take down an infested osprey with two swipes from my venka)
Kyphe
Kestrel is not true melee and who would want to, kestrel alone is not what was advertised. Wall attacks are random they mostly do not hit, especially with disruption doors. if you hit the door you may as well not try for the sensor. You can not zoren through a disruption door. Sword alone is a term for not bringing primary or secondary so you do the whole mission in melee mode sentinel has nothing to do with it. I never said you could not kill flying mobs, it is not a skill it is opportunistic, if they are out of range that's it. if you are using ripline or superjump or radial disarm that is not skill. TheErebus.
Kestrel is not true melee and who would want to, kestrel alone is not what was advertised. "Not a true melee". Because you can throw it it's not a true melee eh? So what's with the melee stance then? Wall attacks are random they mostly do not hit, especially with disruption doors. if you hit the door you may as well not try for the sensor. Then fix wall attacks. Why make the team spend hours slaving away at A.I. (which is far more difficult than some animation and hitbox corrections) when they can just alter hitboxes? You can not zoren through a disruption door. Good. Sword alone is a term for not bringing primary or secondary so you do the whole mission in melee mode sentinel has nothing to do with it. You are bringing a sentinel with ranged firearm capabilities. That is not sword alone. I adore melee and frankly, you're just looking for ways to make these traps to become useless once again. I prefer having disruption doors active because it adds for more challenge. Also "toxin clouds be blocked with block". It's a toxic gas. How can you block it with an effing sword.
