Ferriak
I always wondered about the Ancients, how they're the only infested to appear on Derelicts and in the Void, how their appearance is distinctly non human, but doesn't seem quite chaotic enough to properly be Infested. So I've come to believe that they're all that's left of the Orokin race. Their thoroughly alien biology stops the virus from morphing their bodies, but drives them mad, drives them into servitude with the constant need to consume. As for the Void, the few Orokin that made it safely there had their Neural Sentries turn on them when the security was breached, a failsafe to make sure that if the Infested made it into the void that no Orokin would be allowed to turn on their own kind. I'm left to wonder how deep the Void really goes, if somewhere there are Towers yet to fall, beyond time and space, populated with the last living Orokin, unimaginably intelligent and armed to the teeth with the very best in their weaponry. Seething with rage at the memory of their pets turned conquerors... the Tenno... Edited July 13, 2014 by Autophagia
vaugahn
I'm left to wonder how deep the Void really goes, if somewhere there are Towers yet to fall, beyond time and space, populated with the last living Orokin, unimaginably intelligent and armed to the teeth with the very best in their weaponry. Seething with rage at the memory of their pets turned conquerors... the Tenno... This part is my favorite. I want this to be canon. My personal theory for the ancients is that they're infested who have been infested for a really long time, and as such all the bits that belong to the original organism have fallen off/been converted, leaving them as a sort of "pure" infested

Alad_VI
It did. Many believe that Orokin=A faction of humans. Also I can't say that I've ever seen this many master founders together at once.
RahuHordika
I'm pretty sure they hinted at the Sentients being the upcoming race, not the Orokin.
vaugahn
Source is a devstream, not sure which one... I suggest looking in the devstream summaries on the Wiki. Nothing on the wiki about the orokin as a faction or the orokin returning. if im not mistaken the orokin empire originated on earth... Who knows? We don't know if they're even human
RavenousPartyLibrarian
Yep. The orokin were human. The sentients, however... maybe? That'd be interesting.

Alad_VI
I'm pretty sure they hinted at the Sentients being the upcoming race, not the Orokin. OOOOOOH DAMN. The amount of hype I had for the potential of the Orokin being introduced was just multiplied by some obscenely large 7-digit number. Sentients. Yes. Sentients. Yes. Sentients... Yes... inthephonebox
I think this is interesting, and I like to see something like this, but the Tenno aren't conquerors. At worst we're mercenaries, though I see us more as freedom fights, driving back the militaristic conquest of the Grineer and the Corporate Hegemony of the Corpus from what I assume are regular human colonies. More to your point, I'd certainly love to learn more about the Orokin, or have them show up as a form of corrupted enemy at point, but I would not like to see them return as they used to be. Meeting our long dead benefactors is always disappointing, like the Protheans of ME, the Dwemer of Elder Scrolls, or the return of the time lords in the new Doctor Who. They never live up to their overhyped level of superiority and they're 'artistic corruption of their former selves' is at best cliche and at worst, and more frequently, shallow and disappointing. For me, I'd more more excited to see the Sentients return, despite everything the Orokin sacrificed through the creation of the infestation, their last resort weapon against them. Meenmu
Prime weapons supposedly date back to the orokin era, and they look like they were crafted for humans/humanoids.

What we were then and what we are now are two different things, don't forget the cryopods erased our memories. As for the second part, I can't agree more. I want the lore to flesh out our "current day" situation, and leave the orokin shrouded in mystery as much as possible. Prime weapons supposedly date back to the orokin era, and they look like they were crafted for humans/humanoids. The orokin could have built them for the tenno or their client races and had more powerful weapons of their own, or the orokin could have been humanoid. All we know is that they were cold and gold and loved bling with a passion Edited July 13, 2014 by vaugahn
Alad_VI
Oh yeah also Tenno are a part of the Orokin. Excalibur Prime codex entry suggests that they were Orokin that got f*cked up in the void.

Yes my source is from one of the dev streams but... I'm pretty sure they hinted at the Sentients being the upcoming race, not the Orokin. ...this guy is right, I had a brain fart. The sentients are the next ones planned on being introduced (can anyone say Gamescon?). Give this man a cookie.
Alad_VI
Hype = mc squared I have enough mass to make a significant point about my current hype level. Well over 9,000. (Worst part is I don't get home from an architectural study program until Thursday, and update is expected Wednesday.) Also sentients. Much yes.
