LotLP Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Alright so I was looking at the lol you can only buy this with real money afuris. Now, dual machine pistols is something that'll make me squee any day, but I was just wondering about the stats. In comparison to the NORMAL furis, the accuracy is obviously rubbish cause lol tacticool dualwield. But a +1 increase in damage and no increase in RoF? Double mag size makes sense but there's basically no DPS difference? (well, +11% or so difference, but still)
STARSBarry Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) I find the Afuris in general to be quite poor compared to say the other "closerange" weapon of choice the Bronco, now upgrading these as a similair build to the gorgon (aka spamming crit damage mods) might make them super rigged, but im yet to do this, however for early-mid levels it eats ammo way to fast, your better off with a Bronco imo or the Lex if you take a shotgun as primary Edited January 10, 2013 by STARSBarry
Ryme Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 If you are looking for a dual-weild offering I believe the Aklato is considered to be one of the best pistol options. The 3 current best being: Lex, Bronco, and Aklato. The only downsides of Aklator would be the furious clicking and how quickly it will eat up your ammo pool.
LotLP Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 Thank F*** I have a macro to fight the furious clicking. But yeah, thanks for the advice. I'll not spend my money on that then. I have a Lex, and a Braton as primary, and I love both so far. I'll be switching out my gun every time I reach lvl 15 however to keep things slightly fresh and have some variations in there. Also, what do you mean "spamming crit damage mods"? So that means you'll have to be lucky to get massive damage in case of a crit? Or does this game work the same way borderlands does -- EG headshots count as crits? (the tutorial is SO lacking)

I think he means that the fire rate and damage of the weapon is so great that you are bound to get a lot of crits, so maxing the crit damage is the best way to go.
STARSBarry Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) Also, what do you mean "spamming crit damage mods"? So that means you'll have to be lucky to get massive damage in case of a crit? Or does this game work the same way borderlands does -- EG headshots count as crits? heashots do extra damage but dont count as a crit, so if you crit on a headshot you do huge damage (as far as I can tell anyway) but whats important for high fire weapons is crit damage % stacks. so if you do 2.0 damage and 50% bonus with one mod to 3.0 the next mod you applie with 50% that to 4.5 and so on and so on so that if you stack enough mods with rapid fire it bassicaly means when they crit your damage counter will tick huge.... of course you want to try and get all the damage and crit chances as well as crit damage upgrades in the weapon tree as well to help stack this even further. it works with the Gorgon to insane levels so why not Afuris? LotLP Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 So upgrading crit damage won't increase headshot damage? Yeah, I figured as much that the yellow floaters were crits. Thanks for the advice, I'll see if I don't get the gorgon tomorrow after some amount of playing this.
Volume Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) Quick question... Headshots show as yellow damage too most of the time? Do they have a higher chance to crit or is it just my random experiences? Anyway, I haven't used the Afuris, or seen anyone with one, probably because they cost like $15 (225 Platinum. Cheapest price is 75 Plat for $4.99 so that's pretty much 15 Plat per dollar) Edited January 10, 2013 by Volume
MJ12 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Headshots do not count as crits. Crits show up as yellow damage floaters. I think he means that the fire rate and damage of the weapon is so great that you are bound to get a lot of crits, so maxing the crit damage is the best way to go. Math Fact Time! Rapid fire weapons do not actually benefit from +crit damage mods more than non-rapid fire weapons in terms of sheer DPS. If you have a crit chance of 0.05, a crit damage of +100%, and shoot 10 shots per second at 10 damage (100 dps), you will average 0.5 crits per second, with each crit adding +10 damage, or +5 dps. If you have a crit chance of 0.05, a crit damage of 100%, and shoot 1 shot per second at 100 damage, you will average 0.05 crits per second, with each crit adding +100 damage, or... +5 dps. Now, it is true that +crit damage is somewhat more reliable on rapid-fire weapons and shotguns (because you can count on a lot of crits per second, on average) and you won't suffer from 'wasted damage' but the counterbalance is that +crit damage on high damage weapons is "frontloaded". I.e. a crit may allow you to instantaneously kill some tougher enemies, taking them out of the equation far faster. The choice between rapid-fire and single-shot is generally a choice between "lower wasted damage output" and "less vulnerability to enemy fire".
LotLP Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 Ah good. That's the way I hoped it would work. I'll just put +crit on my Lex then, and see if I can't get that gorgon and just add flat damage buffs to it I guess. Or stun chance. Or whatever I might find, eh?
Cogrock Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I bought the Afuris the other day. I haven't leveled them up yet because they are just so utter and laughably poor. You can kill perhaps 2 dozen enemies before you are our of ammo and you'll take a beating wehile getting those 2 dozen too. Unless you stand in melle range and burst fire in their face for headshots... because ya know,,, that's exactly how you should play the game. The ROF is nice and seeing all of those 1s pop up is mildly amusing but I regret my purchase. Something that you sahould NEVER do to customers. You should never make them regret a purchase. Tis bad bad bad bad BAD. I MIGHT level them up at some point but I think I will wait for some kind of tweak to make them not a complete joke. The DPS is way off compared to ANY other pistol (Not including the single Furis which still does more damage than 2 of them, that sucks too) The ammo drain is a joke, if it's going to be so pathetically weak, at least give them double the ammo pool (at least) AKLATO's all the way for me. Also AKLATO... Shouldn't that be Akimbo Latos? instead of the Akimbo Boltos that they are now? I'd love Akimbo Lato's... since that weapon model is a lot nicer than the Bolto in my opinion. Akboltos would still be cool though :) PS: If you are looking for something with a high ROF as a side arm, I actually wuite like the Sicarius burst pistol. It's not too shabby in a pinch.
