YourFriendlyNoggin Posted July 17, 2014 Share Posted July 17, 2014 Surprise! The three winners, and pretty much all the honorary mentions are obviously recognizable pop culture references. I thought creativity and uniqueness were going to be prized more in this competition. Don't get me wrong, the winners made nice submissions, but they're so blatantly obvious. I would have liked to see some of the more obscure references, which were equally well cos-painted, to take at least one winning spot. A Vi skin isn't exactly pop culture or obviously recognisable. Also while it's nice to think outside the 'box' you have to consider your judges in contests like these, if you make your entry too obscure it will probably go over their heads.
