insaninater
Honestly this seems to change more than anything else in my opinion. Personally, i really don't like it. I enjoyed the ability to see the loadout of my team, i enjoyed the ability to scroll seemlessly between my mods to my weapon loadout to my foundry without needing to run around a ship. I enjoyed being able to see all my mods at the same time, and i enjoyed being able to scroll from planet to planet without menuing back and forth. But that's just one guy's opinion, i'd like to hear what everyone thinks of the drastic UI and visual changes.

D3ST
it was as i feared, it takes x5 time now to do what i could just do before with a click or two. and where is the option to play private/solo, i cant for the life of me find it now? other than that, i really liked the new player tut, execpt, that 50% of the time, its bugged, so i get stuck on the loading mission screen, and have to go to task manager to quit the game.. Spacetimer
it was as i feared, it takes x5 time now to do what i could just do before with a click or two. This is my main issue as well. Especially when it comes to modding - I can barely recognize the mods now. All in all I like the changes but the actual screens at least need the option to be flat. I don't know what it's like on a big screen, but on a smaller resolution this is pretty inhibitive. (On that note, the size of the chat screen is pretty obnoxious now.) The mod shadowing and the weird way the rewards are layed out and such.
Mutant1988
It hurts my head to have the menus constantly moving while I try to navigate them.
CandyDragon
What moron thought it would be a great idea to hold the mod window at like 45 degrees angled away from the camera? New UI is poorly designed and clearly done by someone who didn't think about the overall user experience. Its disappointing, hopefully when PWE absorbs them they will actually start testing and getting feedback about these things. As is new UI for modding is 0/10, would not deviant art. Go back to winamp.
PlayGooYa
Bang up job on the update. But let me voice agreement with all gripes about the mod screen. You can only see the portraits for one row of mods at a time, and even then, you see less of the total mods than you did in the old UI. Your character also tends to block out the left column of mods by standing in front of it. I wouldn't mind an option to enable the old UI or at least show more mods at once. Secondly, it seems like changing colors or weapons aren't always accurately reflected on your character model on the ship or in the display. (So you might say, unequip a Zorens but still swagger around the ship with them strapped to your back. Or in the default colors, even though you changed them) Thirdly, I miss the ingredients sidebar on the Foundry screen. But that's a minor complaint. bladesofwill
I agree with you, especially for the mod interface. It feels like I can see much less information/fewer mods at once than I could previously. Before you could see 5 or 6 rows of mods at once, now you can see 2-3 depending on how the mousewheel scrolls. The 'focus' for mods that hides art when its out of focus only makes it harder to get meaningful information. The way menus shift as I move my cursor just.... hurts my eyes and gives me a headache. I'm especially bothered by how the shifting of the menus can move relevant information offscreen/behind your warframe. I would love an option to scale everything back a little bit and prevent the menus from moving around. I'm more fond of the ESC menu - Its simplistic, doesn't move around for no reason whatsoever, you can mouse over options to provide more information but nothing important is ever hidden. Also, there is now an exit game button! No more will I have to log out before exiting (or switch over to my taskbar to close the window). I'm also a little bit sad that the UI overhaul didnt include an improved chatbox. On the plus side, configurations, sorting, and loadouts are pretty nice. Being able to see the stats of your equipment change without having to save and exit the upgrade screen is a big plus. All of your equipment now has 3 mod setups avaliable and you can have 3(?) loadouts for your overall setup. I didn't see anything about this in the patch notes, so maybe its not new and I just never saw it before.
Hobbes_Maxwell
I'd add my 2 cents here, but everyone has already voiced it pretty well. the new UI is basicaly a total mess. Edited July 18, 2014 by Hobbes_Maxwell

Go back to winamp. The UI was made for the Playstation. It's supposed to favor both PC and Playstation but simply put - Its not an option - It's full playstation. I completely despise the new ui, it's a complete eye sore. I realize I can press escape and access some menus. They are terrible. I want the simple option to use the old ui, I want them integrated so support does not have to be dropped for the old ui. I don't want to be stuck with someones artistic vision when I don't find value in it, when 100's of development hours is not a satisfactory reason to force it down my throat. The old minimalist UI was more appealing to me as a gamer.
Ganpot
I hate pretty much everything about the new UI. Not only is it incredibly unintuitive and impossible to navigate in a timely manner, but it is also ugly and lacking in personality. Everything is a bland grey series of boxes. I didn't even really like the last overhaul of the UI, but at least that change didn't massively reduce functionality and efficiency (and admittedly, might have improved it in some areas). The new design obviously takes a lot of inspiration from Dead Space's UI, but it completely misses the point. Dead Space's holographic style was amazing because it allowed players to go through menus while still being able to see their surroundings and respond if they needed to (because the menus were see-through). Warframe's menus are so close to the screen that players still can't see anything else, which completely eliminates the advantage of using holographic displays. The UI was made for the Playstation. It's supposed to favor both PC and Playstation but simply put - Its not an option - It's full playstation. Yeah.... the box-style and massive size of the UI elements is a dead giveaway. DE pretty clearly designed this UI with the understanding that players would be up to a dozen feet away from a very large screen, and navigating the UI with a controller. And I fully agree with your statement about bringing the old UI back as an option.
kultuu
wow just wow, the new UI is a abomination , the old one was ugly but it was easy to navigate.......the one we got now? i dont even have words to describe it.....is this a PC ui???? because to me it looks like a consolized crappy UI made for controllers.... yeah im mad right now, logging off ffs Edited July 18, 2014 by kultuu

It showed you what you wanted to see when you wanted to see it and didn't waste any time with unnecessary aesthetic flair. Why should it? it's a freaking menu! Simplicity and ease of use is the whole point. Leave the immersion for the gameplay and leave the menus simple to minimize the amount of time spent in menus, thus maximizing the amount of time actually playing! The old minimalist UI was more appealing to me as a gamer. My opinion of the previous UI change (in-game) was exactly the same - it looks "prettier" but has less functionality. And I know that at least part of the old in-game UI was still there as of a month ago - press escape when you have the squad health display up and you get the old, superior one. But after a lot of comments on why the new in-game UI was bad and how it could be improved, nothing was done. And that was just small changes, or possibly giving us an option to use the old UI instead. There isn't much of a history of bad changes getting reverted here - the only one I can think of was the stamina nerf and that was a very easy or small-scale change (consisting of exactly two variables - the recharge delay and recharge speed) with an absolutely enormous outcry against it. Sadly, it's only going to get worse.
SteelCent
This UI was made for consoles, for controllers. Don't force it down pc users throats. It really comes down to poor game design, Its taking what you learned in school and disregarding it completely to fulfill some sort of fantasy or harden out a career path based on adapting style that's not remotely unique but copy/pasted. It feels like we have con artists behind the wheel sometimes, and PUN't. Although you could get a rise out of some with the results, it leaves a lot to be desired to others who saw those menus 100 times on consoles. There's very little which is intuitive about the menu design in regards to pc play, Many people find it hard to admit a mistake, specifically one so many people are involved in. To admit a mistake is to devalue ones position. That Artist, their boss, anyone who okay'd it along the line - To repeal a decision is to suggest you aren't worth your salary -> is to suggest perhaps given the mistakes and time lost to mistakes your employment would come into question. To me its no mystery why downgrading the game in many aspects is acceptable in face of failure, defeat, or an inability to perform ones duties. What a mistake costs is time, hours upon hours of development time - Enough of those cockups and maybe someone else with more experience would fair better in that job position. What I ask is an integration of old and new to give the option in relation to the UI - to get rid of all that trash. I understand white is easier to draw than black, I see all the improvements you worked so hard for -> And its looking nice for a console. It's horrible for my pc, for my eyes. I don't want it and I can't stand it. My experience suffers - the period between runs, looking at this filth is beyond reason to me. This UI was made for consoles, for controllers. Don't force it down pc users throats. Edited July 18, 2014 by SteelCent

Don't force it down pc users throats. I hate just being a nodding head, but I couldn't agree more. this new UI being for the playstation, it feeling unituitive, it being controller driven and unescapaable is exactly where I am right now. We've been forced to exchange the windows start menu for the unholy lovechild of facebook and google plus! nothing is where it should be to play the game anymore, and that's not just new content jitters. I spent 2 hours playing around with it last night and I still don't have a clue how to add new players quickly, how to compare weapon stats, heck, i can't even tell how many keys I have. Plus, loading into and out of mission maps takes far more time than it ever did, I want to hit "go" and go, and when i'm done, I want out to check my progress, level stuff up, and get back into the fight. I had time last night in between loading in and out of game to tab out to look at reddit and forum posts without missing a beat, and that's messed up! the foundry is even worse, insted of a list it's a big dumb huge icon view that's nearly impossible to navigate through. Same with the market. Please, hitting "Escape" tabs us into a psudo-normal menu. if you want the consol cluster-truck, keep it, but clean up the quick select and make it more like it used to be so we can actually play the game insted of tripping over console fluff?
