Suggestion: Pre-Test For Players

A lot of people are kinda down because major updates (12, 13, 14) break the game everytime and I am like

'Didn't DE know these bugs earlier?!'

Well, I thought perhaps many problems do not even occur because the developers test the game at their place and everything goes super awesome but once it gets distributed across the entire Earth, the bugs and glitches begin to happen.

Therefore, there should be a program for trusted players to have a look at the game before the public release because you spot a dozen of problems in the first few minutes.

Of course, you cannot exclude that somebody will leak information but it is the same with our Design Council anyway.

sincerely

DarkDataStorm (who doesn't feel like playing Warframe at all)

No, it is not.

There is a difference between leaking few pictures, and leaking prototype build.

@Darkdataflame You do realize we are the beta testers right? Whiners and flamers should understand that too.  Bugs are what we are supposed to be dealing with, reporting them our bread and butter.  Its our responsibility to test this program.  Its not a final product.  PC players are the guinea pigs of DE.  I personallly like it that way.

Because it would mean that the number of bugs is minimised before the bugs reach the majority of the playerbase.

The player base is supposed to be finding and reporting the bugs.  It is what beta testers do.  We all do know this is BETA right?  What the definition of that is?  That we are not enjoying a final product?

because too many people whine and flame?

sadly people can whine about anything, and really this update feels much more accepted than the last one.

warframe is publicly announced as being in beta, those who accept the terms of use are accepting to experience even game breaking bugs. we've all agreed to it

Yes.

Yes.

This game totally needs test servers. TF2 did it. Other games still do it. Why not Warframe? It would help establish a stronger bond between players and devs as well, I think.

we are in beta for taht reason still. to send in reports and bugs, why would u want a beta tester for a beta?

This game hardly qualifies as a beta anymore. They have a fully-implemented microtransaction system, and have been in beta for... what? Over a year? That's ridiculous. When is the beta going to end? For whom are we testing? Ourselves, so we can stay trapped in this cycle of endless beta?

You're... you're okay with that?

I mean I'm okay with finding bugs and such too, but what we are given is so unfinished that it feels like we're given raw cookie dough and told to just suck it up because we're taste testers, when we should be given baked cookies and asked to give feedback on a polished product before it's sold to customers. How are we supposed to give feedback on a cookie if we're only asked to taste what barely resembles the final product?

No offense to those who like raw cookie dough.

Yep as mentioned above, us PC players are still in beta for that particular reason. That is why when it launches on PS4 it has minimal bugs and many of them related to PS4 specifically and not super game breaking :)

Sigh. This is too much for me at 4AM.

whether it qualifies as beta or not is up to DE themselves. lets try not to make this discussion fall into a beta war.

DE is an indie company, they are bootstrapping this together.  We are on test servers, we are the testers,  They put out code, we break the hell out of it, like a new fish on d-block.   They do microtransactions so they can get money to continue to develop the game.  We are paying for, testing, and enjoying their product.  Its brilliant, crowd sourcing of a dream program that otherwise wouldnt exist if the big studios wouldnt fund it.  I am not sure why anyone would think otherwise.  Beta is all over the game, has been since forever, and yes its beta and not a finished product.  When it is done, then imagine what kind of experience it will be driven by its players and not just the developers.  So yes, not only am I OK with that, I am enjoying it like I would a new fish on D-Block.

I have to agree with the OP. Game breaking bugs should not happen to this magnitude considering how much money they are happy to charge in-game for all sorts of services. You can't forever excuse lack of quality control by saying it's beta. Everyone knows we can't expect a 100% bug-free experience and they are still adding features but some sort of small-scale or internal QA wouldn't hurt, I'm sure they could find volunteers to test that things are working just a few hours before they are released to everyone else

I'm pretty sure that the devs could test for bugs just as easily as any players in this "program". The issue here is time, and DE not wanting to sit on finished content while they wait for the seal of approval from this special team of super players.

Besides, almost none of these bugs are universal. I've had almost no problems with update 14 (except the part where you have to re-log to proceed and a few minor hiccups) so releasing it to everyone is the quickest and easiest way to find out what's wrong. A more confined situation might give the skewed impression that it's pretty much okay, like it has been with me.

DE is testing for bugs, they use us to do so.  We are the quality control, we are the ones that do the playtesting.  Its us.  We are working for DE in a fashion.  Why is this hard to understand? We get the raw product, run it through the paces, break it, give feedback to fix it, break it again, feedback again, etc.  When the programming is done, they run it through a debug, fix the errors they see, then turn it out to us.  We break the hell out it, give it back and rinse and repeat.  That is what beta testers do.  Why do people think they are getting a final product here? IF it was a final product and this was happening then I could fully understand the complaints.  Hell I would be first in line with both torch AND pitchfork. But to expect a final product and a playable game with a 100% uptime or close is kinda not in the cards as it stands right now.

We are funding this product, we are testing this product, we are making this product what it is on all fronts but actually programming and hosting the game.

I can't wait for the beta beta version of warframe!

ABSOLUTELY! The final product should be absolutely bleeding edge SOTA because of how its approached.  With all the feedback and bug testing we are doing and the solutions coming from community instead of a developer? I await this like a hentai schoolgirl three minutes before tentacle time, panting and with bated breath.

DE has removed almost all signs that this is a beta from just about every single page on their website.  I couldn't find any mentions that this game being in beta anywhere except for the for 2 main sections in the forums listed as PC Beta Bugs and PS4 Beta Bugs. Not even the main forum headers say Beta.  Steam doesn't list it as a beta, PS4 was never listed as a beta.  Xbox One version will probably not be listed as a beta either.  When launching the PC version the game doesn't have the beta text anymore unless I'm blind and I missed it.
