Launching Game Through Steam Crashes, Can Only Use Launcher Inside Game Files

I recently reinstalled Warframe on steam and I have a very annoying bug pertaining to the launcher. If I press play through steam it will bring up the launcher but when I press play, it instantly crashes and says something about the Evolution Engine. Now if I navigate to the files inside of steamapps > common and find the games launcher, I can launch the game just fine. This isnt that much of a bother except that i'm technically not playing through steam so I cant access the overlay or chat with friends without Alt + Tab. What i'm guessing is that steam play button is for some reason linking to an out dated launcher of some sorts? 

 

Any ideas?

I have the same issue except it happens in both steam and when launched through only the launcher.
