And Seekers are the least offending of the bunch.

The only reason I include them here is because one shot me in the back when I was at extraction's doorstep and it killed me.

Honestly, another thing that should be explained somewhere is how rolling dislodges seeker bombs. I was 200 hours in before I learned that one. (Yes, I'm slow, but rolling in general isn't very useful or memorable in this game half the time, so usually I wouldn't do it.)

I thought about that as well.

Lotta good ideas here, makes me really want to talk to DE about adding in either unique dialogue upon encountering unique/dangerous enemies rather then the generic "Derp, Heavy Grineer approaching" or at the very least, a tutorial for such things as getting Latchers off of your Warframe and advanced movement.

Also, 219 views, I'm pleased, if not slightly disappointed by the lack of more posters.

Keeep it up.

Distinct silhouettes go a long way to making sure the player can quickly identify threats. The Grineer's HEAVY GUNNER, for example, has a *very* distinct frame, sound, and gunfire that makes you completely aware of who they are and what they do as soon as you glance over them even in a crowd. She is a great example of how an enemy that is important should present themselves. Eximus are another good example, although I might argue that the effort put into them is a little "cheap".

Corpus are even worse in this aspect. Aside from the taller red guy, they all look exactly the same save for having different colour'd jump-suites. Which also makes them kind of a boring enemy to fight in general.

Got a point there, the Gorgon has a highly distinct wind up sound, denoting her existence if you can't hear her voice.

But Napalms, Bombards both have the EXACT same design as lancers, with very subtle color changes and leg armor coloration, and outside of the faint THUNG sound of a rocket being fired it's hard to tell a HG from the distance.

Corpus are even worse due to the fact ALL their weapons sound almost perfectly identical.

Corpus Tech's aside, Supra also have a fairly distinct sound among Corpus weaponry, and Tech's have a bright orange coloration to their jumpsuit.

I agree with this. Mercury really should be a newbie learning planet. Each mission brings a new element into play and expands on the tutorial (which done rather well now could still use a bit of depth). The idea of Lotus telling you about all the new enemies as you advance would definitely give new players a heads up on what they need to avoid etc.

Prior to U14 The only place bombards and napalms ever showed up on mercury was appolodorus. Bombards showed up at the ten min mark and napalms showed up at the 20 min mark. Most new players didn't stay past the five min mark unless they got someonethwt knew what they were doing.

Now Having them show up in mercury missions that no old player is going to go to is asinine. But then again I've come not to expect much from the decisions of the dev team. How is it a smart idea to send new players with unmoded gear against some of the biggest bullet sponges of the game with no or few mods on the gear and frame? Let me guess...Sheldon's idea.

As of U14, I have been attacked by Heavy Grineer in M Prime and Eminescu. My NPE account hasn't attempted Boethius and Neruda, and like Appolodorus, Heavy Grineer do not spawn until much later waves in Lares.

I need to fix it but yes prior to update 14 is what I meant in regards to apolo. Now they are showing up in other missions. That is stupid. Same with leaders. They should not be showing up on mercury and show gradually get players acquainted with them. Any new player is going to think "the hell is that?" Right before they die.

Thankfully, low level Eximus units aren't too bad on their own. They haven't given me that much trouble unless paired with a HG, so I'm not overly concerned about them.

I wonder if there would be a feasible way to kill two birds with one proverbial stone. Why can't we introduce the codex while also introducing enemy types at the same time? It would get the player acquainted with the codex, enemy types , and possibly even the scanner.

That is coming in NPE 3.0

Ever since the codex was released, I find my thoughts often turning to the Metroid Prime games, if you're unfamiliar with those games (which I really hope you aren't), Scanning was core to the game play, some enemies could not be locked onto unless scanned, and certain enemy weakspots could not be locked on to. As a side bonus the Data entry for scanning the monster revealing detailed information about said target, including it's vulnerabilities and  biology.

While there is no lock on system to Warframe, I feel like turning the codex system into one akin to that of the Metroid Prime would be a colossal boon.

Players still don't know about the codex or what scanning is. Let alone the 500 credit price tag is very steep for new players.

It's not just the NPE.  I picked up Mirage from the store.  My first five missions ended in failure.  Why?  Arc Traps.  Too many dang Arc Traps hidden behind doors or crates or other places.  And they now seem to be immune to melee.  Yay.

Additionally I thought Mercury should be a good place to try and level up a Kubrow.  I mean, I should be able to see the trap and deal with it with my higher level gear, right?  Yeah... no.  Kubrow dies to Arc-Trap-Insta-Death before you can kill the trap.

Mercury has turned into a brutally punishing experience for low-level frames, and I even thought that if this was my first exposure to the game I would have quit within the first few days.

Glad to see other people are experiencing the same issues. Perhaps we can bring this situation to DE's attention. As far as I can tell, the awareness level of Mercury's dilemma is less then 0, which is another reason I started this thread. Spread the word, yo.

All of this just piles on to the idea that Warframe's difficulty needs a harsh looking at in general.

NPE should have been done after a balance pass over player health, shields, stamina, armor, damage of both players and enemies, as well as spawn rate and where things spawn.

If they'd have done that, the NPE would have been an even bigger success.

Don't get me wrong.  That whole Vor's Prize event plays like a very polished version of Warframe.  Almost an entirely different game.  The rest of the game needs to feel that well done.

I won't comment on the difficulty because I am a glutten for punishment lol and I also am playing through on my level 30 frame.

I can confirmm, however that the Rank 1 test was changed to Corpus before I made my PC account and was very hard until I bought a Braton back around update 12 sometime?   It was VERY hard compared to day 1 on my ps4 fighting the grineer-- I failed it atleast 3 times.  Buying a Braton and fully ranking it solved my issue.

I can also confirm that with the Venka- I cannot hit any arc traps-- I was wondering if it was all melee or just the Venka.

Also-- when something levels up mid mission for me (venka/sybaris) at the moment... I get a really crazy "Pause/Frame drop to 0" for a split second-- then I'm back up to running great.

Before people start saying WAIT- but your a PS4 player!

Yes I am, but I play on PC too and yes I'm talking about U14 :-)

especially during newest updates to check stuff out.  Currently stuck at the end of Vor's Prize (Venus Nav in inventory and installed into ship but can't progress)

Sorry-- people always tell me to get lost because they think I don't know what I am talking about because I am posting from a Ps4 account lol- so just squashing that b4 it starts.

One thing to add-  Hydroids abilities look super washed out and bad (all except his first)  The tentacles look like big light blue spaghetti noodles (no transparancy whatsoever)  I assume this is linked to the other water issues (on earth etc.  the water looked "too blue")

I got that feeling as well. It almost makes the intro a bit misleading...

I meant the whole of Vor's Prize. Its so well-polished and good that it cheapens the rest of the game.

Another thing about NPE, you don't want the player's first 5 minutes to be the best 5 minutes.

Mhh, I can agree.

Many a game have wowed me with their intro, only to end up making me go "Da F*** is dis S#&$?" once I get through it.

And in Warframe's current state, I can see some new players doing that.

If only I could come up with some good solutions :U

I really need to form an NPE account, I feel like It would help me understand what might hinder the game rather than hurt it for NPE. I might go do that now actually....
