Guest Tehnoobshow
So far I know of three ways a burst fire weapon can function. The first is like in the game, you pull the trigger once, and all rounds in the burst are fired. The second involves holding down the trigger to fire until the limit for the burst is reached. If the full burst is not fired, the next trigger pull will only be able to fire the remaining number of rounds in the burst. The third mechanism also requires holding down the trigger to fire the burst, but the mechanism will reset even if the whole burst is not fired, allowing every burst to fire the maximum number of rounds. AFAIK The M16A2 works like the second . The HK MP5 works like the third. Seras
Here is a pretty good diagram of how it works on an AR-15http://www.ar15.com/content/guides/function/burst/Burst fire was put into guns mostly to save ammunition, and increase accuracy. Soldiers would fire large volumes of ammunition at a small number of targets, which would cause ammo shortages.
