Motion Sick Ui Design

Regressive UI design focused for console players aside.

 

The camera tracking head movement is cute. But why, oh god why, did you guys make it also rotate the UI as well?

Already semi squinting to see the mods at that 30° angle. 

Map selection is also atrocious, who thought it brilliant to rotate the maps around a circle? one that puts names sideways and upside down?

 

Just seems really silly that this was an added thing.

The head tracking is fine.

Would prefer if my warframe didn't eat up a quarter of the screen and simply vanished.

 

So basically:
Return to stationary UI design.

Revert the rotation of the UI to actually facing the user, no more of this skewed nonsense. You aren't dead space.

Hide the warframe when the selected menu/feature pops up.

There is zero reason for these things to be there aside from the lack of testing and QA

I don't get the UI team at times, we had to shout at them to get the option to turn off HUD motion, and now they gave us even worse motion with no way to turn it off, feels like the UI team release code to the game with no real testing/review process.

Moving Ui in toggleable in the options, you know ?

Remove it and the motion blur and you should feel better.

For the rest, I can live with it

Just checked my game, logged in and it is in fact set to off, still rotates/moves with mouse.

 

I imagine its just another thing they "forgot" and went "But its beta" and moved on.

Any particular strengths to this UI that you find better than the previous one?

 

Or is it all shiny window dressing that has your appeal?

 

The arsenal has always had the warframe hidden from view I think, it's still there over the foundry, mods, incubator etc.

Heh, that's a good one.

 

This thread encapsulates my biggest issue with this UI.  The skewed, moving, obstructed menus absolutely need to go.  An option to turn off the "immersion" and view static menus that face front (you know, towards the actual player) should be top priority.  For now I can't stand using these menus so I can't play the game.

 

I usually avoid complaining about this sort of thing when I could just spend my free time playing another game instead.  Also, I'm sure the devs worked hard on this flashy UI.  But man, I have never disagreed with a design decision so much.  It's like they didn't consider functionality in between designing and implementing this thing.
