Clan Emblem

Hi everyone. I'm currently working on an emblem for my clan. I have a few queations I need answered before I can commit to a concept. Which works best for Warframe emblems, stencil design or realistic textures? I ask this becuase I have a few variations I've been playing around with. One is a real sample while the other is a stencil.

 

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

textures dont look good in emblems i think ..personally as a professional graphic designer whenever i make clan emblems i just avoid using them because they ruin the feel of the design

Since I posted this I've come up with a new concept and completed the emblem. Looks great too! That link did help, I'd hate to loose 150p. It's black and white so I don't think I'll have lighting issues.
