Using Gear Ps4

Hi folks, I suspect I'm going to get a lot of RTFM! responses here but I tried the almighty Google and searching the forums here and still can't find the answer. Although I can make some handy stuff (team energy restore etc) I haven't got a scooby-do how to use them in game and there doesn't seem to be a button mapped to gear.

Press down on the D-Pad.

After you craft / buy gear you first have to equip it.  Go into your Arsenal, hit the gear tab and it should be obvious from there.  In game use down on the D-pad to bring up a selector wheel of what you want to use.  You can also add direct key bindings to specific gear slots, for maybe right or up on the D-pad since those aren't used by the default setup.  Depends on how much you want to use a specific thing (or how quickly).
