Hydroid is really good caster, tentacle swarm is very good at any level, undertow needs a spefic buiild to work right, and is only good for defence, his first ability(forgot the name) isnt really usefull, and his wave ability is very usefull. Just wanted to put that out there if you want to organize your abilites a certain way.

Max duration all the way, the reduced range is actually helpful cus your first and foruth skills will do more damage and can be controlled easier. Then you can either go for strength or efficiency. Don't forget about some health in there too.

I run with max Duration, and use him as a CC in defense / survival missions. Tempest barrage can provide 9 seconds of constant knockdown and damage where as tentacle swarm is great to just take care of corridors for almost a minute while you focus on another area. Tidal wave is okay for offense, but I tend to not use it, rather I equip puddle and use it as a last resort to buy the team some time to recoup.

What about the Dangle-Frame?

-All you need is a maxed: Intensify, Stretch, and Continuity (Streamline if you like)

-His 1st skill is PHENOMENAL in Defense and Interception missions.
-His 2nd skill is INCREDIBLE for clearing Survival and Defense missions.
-His 3rd skill is WONDERFUL for saving defense missions, and protecting your squad mate while activating the life support in Survival.
-His 4th skills is LAKSDJFKS where ever you go FOR ANY AND EVERY MISSION.

The problem with hentai monster Tentacle Swarm is that there's no way of increasing the number of tentacles. Meaning a larger area of effect won't be any good.

Increasing duration isn't gonna be much of a help either. You'll be stuck with the skill where you cast it until it's time is over, being unable to move it.

Strength isn't worth investing either. But that goes for all fixed damage skills.

I feel like Hydroid need a buff, or rather an ability to cast multiple schoolgirl's nightmares Tentacle Swarms. Then a power duration build would shine!

That, and actually killing things inside it is a pain because the bodies are flailing around everywhere. Unless you're using an AoE weapon.

Hydroid's the only frame where I actually use all his skills. Tidal Surge is a great mobility move as well as a knockdown and with narrow-minded (increases speed) you can get a good distance with it. Narrowminded is also useful for shortening the range on Tempest barrage so that it will consistently cc an area whether that be a cryo-pod or a door way. It also acts as a long-range cc meaning that all you have to do is aim and control that particular area. Undertow is great to use especially when you get into trouble seeing how you take no damage even from status effects like slash and toxin. Tentacle swarm is another long-range capable cc move that is capable of controlling more of an area than tempest barrage such as a hallway.

This is the build I use:

Redirection can be switched with Vitality for the infested but I usually just use Undertow when I get the toxin proc. Or I see the flame wave that knocks you back.
