Yes, with a good build your weapon will deal enough damage to make it worth it unranked and will save your energy

Because -140% efficiency is huge while 5% of 1-2k+ dmg/hit with a good weapon is already a lot

The lower damage multi-hit weapons should benefit more from lower rank? While slow and strong hitting ones would benefit more from the max ranked one?

For lower damage multi-hit weapons, the problem is draining your energy too fast, so keeping it unranked is reccomended.

For slow and strong hitting weapons, even at 5% each hit can restore a decent chunk of hp, so no real benefit from ranking it up either.

This would be an interesting question if Life strike was a rank 10 mod but its just rank 3... its VERY cheap to max and it will only save you 3 points if you don't max it...
