What About A Dark Souls Style Stalker?

As in, you queue up for the task, get a nice black and red paintjob, big buffs to all your stats and get to invade other people's games, if they have the mark, to kill them.

Or maybe the stalker frame itself, crafted and all, ready to stalk the other Tenno.

no.

Let me explain, Unlike Dark souls, where you can kill some one with high powered gear when you have underpowered gear if you know what you are doing, High powered gear in warframe = oneshot kills, instant death, and thats not even getting into warframe powers. It would be utterly imbalanced and would not be fun to newer players.

You say that as if you think he's a tenno...

Wouldn't a CC based buff/nerf to the player stats fix the issues?

It could take the entire team into consideration.

By the way, "forced pvp is bad because reasons" is no argument at all, it's an event that already happens in the game without the help of a player, it could just make it more challenging/interactive/fun by removing the AI element and adding a real thinking player, more fun for both sides.

Oh boy ok here we go.

Lore: It wouldn't make any god damn sense. How would it make sense that a tenno somehow becomes the stalker. The very thing that wishes to see us completely eradicated for the sins that we have done to the Orokin.

In the souls series, it made sense because white soapstones act as a bridge to the other "worlds" of players.

Gameplay: Have you tried Souls PvP? If you have, then you'd know that in this game, it would be horribly imbalanced. More imbalanced than a Faith build user wielding two staffs and spamming Crystal soul spear.

I've seen this thread so many times and I've bashed down the idea.

The concept is neat, but the execution would never be good.

Lore: There's no clear lore behind the stalker, anything could be done or explained by DE.

Gameplay: It works now, the stalker is real, the difference could be the player, even if it were to work with a premade set of weapons and skills as in, the exact same things the stalker uses now, and then, if possible, tweaked with player gear.

Lore: DO you even codex bro?

CODEX Entry: StalkerCodexbw.png
Some have walked these desolate worlds while you have slept. Some like me. I remember what you did. I remember the day.

The Tenno appeared at the Terminus, gleaming and victorious. Our cold and gold Emperors, breathless, bathed you in savior's silk. Then came the sound. Across all our worlds, all at once, the ceremonial Naga drums. A royal salute to the honored Tenno. Ten solemn beats to declare the suffering was over. I watched from a distance, with the rest of the low Guardians. With each beat terror began to crush my throat. The Tenno were not stoic and silent. They were waiting. They were poised. I tried to call out but only a strangled whisper escaped.

When the ninth beat rang a torrent of blood filled the stadium, loosed by Tenno blades. The drums, the Empire, fell silent forever.

Now I hunt, dividing your numbers. Watching from that dark place, cataloging your sins, I am the ghost of retribution. You may forget but you are not innocent.

Gameplay: Yeah and how's the stalker doing against Pentas? Or blade storms. Or M prime.

See what I mean?

So you want to tweak player gear so that it better benefits the stalker.

Forced PvP is a serious no-no in a game like this. Look at how most stalker encounters go; stalker gets blown away, or stalker blows away the target. This would naturally lead to lots of butthurt from stalker players and from targetted players. Beyond that, there's no way to balance it. The stalker appears in PvE missions, and PvE is not balanced for PvP. Hell, PvP isn't balanced for PvP. DE has already started balancing PvP separately, there's no way they'd balance PvE for PvP. If they did it would be a serious restructure for this game, and would no doubt cause endless amounts of rage on the forums.

No offense, but it's just a bad idea.

Lore: Yeah, like I said, unclear and with plenty of room for expansion, if anything it could be connected to some "awakening" or "duality" quest line.

Gameplay: Nothing would change, for worse, only improve, the present troubles would still exist, if somebody is too bothered by it they can just chose not to play as a stalker, problem solved, as for skills, stalker is and should remain immune to them, it's not a change to the stalker, it's a change to the player.

This isn't a new event or a new feature, it's an upgrade to an existing one.

You still have no acknowledged how unbalanced it would be.

There's a reason the Stalker is still a joke. Because people who use high grade weaponry would immediately devastate them.

And it's not an upgrade. Because an upgrade would be useful, this one isn't.

If you want dark souls + stalker.

Go to DS2 (or ds1 whatever). Get yourself the shadow set (DS2, easily farmable from the Flexile Sentry), get a scythe (whichever one suits you) and then use it with a bow.

That's what I'm saying there is no need for any extra changes, just keep everything as it is and let the player play it, later on when they get the time and if the community ends up liking it too much, they can focus on improving and tweaking this feature further.

That lore is not unclear at all. There's no way a tenno could become a stalker without a total retcon.

Look, just think about it for a second: this would cause serious problems for people. Either they're low level and have an experienced stalker spawn in their mission, or they're high level and have an inexperienced stalker spawn in their mission, or the person playing stalker decides to troll, or dozens of other bad things that could happen in this situation.

There's dozens of other threads with this same idea. I can link you to them if you'd like.

You do know how this community feels about PvP, right? I'd say 80% of people despise it. If they ever put this in the game the backlash would be immense.

This would be the single most unbalanced feature in the game if it was added.

Yeah I know it, I'm just saying that the balance is irrelevant because it's not a suggestion that's bringing any new imbalance into the game, it's already in it, it's just improving the game itself.

It is bringing imbalance. Because now a player driven stalker is completely imbalanced against a rank 30 mirage using hall of mirrors with a penta.

1 single paragraph of "lore" isn't all there is to it.

A stalker attacking a new lonely player always means the player is dead anyway, no changes so far, if the stalker decides to "troll" that's fine too, not like he can do much except running away which the players can just ignore anyway.

Using a slippery slope fallacy doesn't really make a point, what I've been saying all along is that NOTHING would change to the game or gameplay elements except that it would allow veteran players to play something new, something else, in their late game content, nothing more, nothing less.

Fail to see the logic there, that issue is present to the present stalker, how is a player bringing NEW imbalance to what's already broken? This is an issue DE has to fix with or without this change if they want to make the stalker threatening, this suggestion doesn't touch that aspect of the game.
