Recommend Frame/weapons For Clearing All Missions Solo - New Player

Hi All,

 

I've played a little bit on PS4, and enjoyed the game, but I decided to come across to PC for the updates/mouse/keyboard, and really enjoying the new UI/Ship.

 

On PS4 I've built a rhino and a few other frames as well as a lot of missions, but on PC now, I'd like to fasttrack that a little bit.

 

I have about 1K plat (but could get some more) for store purchases. Could anyone recommend a frame/weapons that would let me reliably unlock/clear missions solo in case I can't get people to do them with me (survival/defense only to 1st wave). Ideally I'd like suggestions on something that let's me solo when there isn't people doing missions I can jump in with.

 

I assume I'll slowly get different mods, which I can upgrade a bit as I go, I don't really want to have to trade for void only mods, unless you think this won't be possible without getting into trading. Will mods eventually limit me at the higher missions or should I be ok matching up weaknesses to enemies appropriately on the enemies?

 

Not concerned with speed of the missions, just want to reliably clear some of the missions I find more annoying (such as the capture ones) so I can have them all unlocked for alerts, and then start focusing on finding a clan/learning void missions.

 

Any suggestions or feedback welcome?

Its hard not to say Rhino for doing solo runs of most everything.  Especially for boss farming whatever other frames you want.

 

For the planets the plain old original Boltor is damn fine, but if you want to spend plat boltor prime will get you everywhere you ever want to be even if you don't have the mods you would want for other weapons.

If you aren't happy with the projectile speed of the boltor, grakata or karak can be fun for the planets and survival upto ~15 minutes.

 

For solo defense, i had better luck with some of the more typical CC frames.  Nyx after you get the hang of her, or Frost (though frost prime might be easier to get if you are solo and wanting to spend some plat).

Once you hit mastery 2, buy a Boltor Prime out of Trade Chat, farm Rhino off of Jackal (or buy Rhino Prime parts as well), grab a Vangard helm if you can, and you can speedrun missions with ease. Maybe pick up a maxxed Serration+Split Chamber from another player too.

There could be quite a few ways to go about it, depending on your play style.

 

If you want to survive, I'd suggest either Rhino or Valkyr (for me Valkyr is more fun). To defend, Frost would be a good choice as he has snowglobe as well as avalanche; I like using him for tower defense. To have absolute fun, while taking a bit of risk, go for Loki.

 

As for weapons, boltor would be good (prime would be better) along with despair. Not much else to say about that.

@Darealslenderman - Thanks, though I assume Mirage is just a bit unbalanced being the newest frame?

 

@Darzk - Thanks, I'll look into Boltor Prime purchase. Rhino I tried on PS4 and he was a fun frame, but I might like to try something different. I'll look out for the mod's as well, thanks.

 

@Austerity - Interesting build, but I might stick to ranged for the moment :) 

 

@Vitras - Thanks, are either valkyr or frost appreciated in groups if others do drop in? I'll read around though. I'll read up on Loki though I'd assume he's more solo, while I don't mind if a group drops in. I'll look into Boltor Prime (as above) and despair (the stalker pack if I pick up Loki might be a good way to go there)

 

@Wahooo - Rhino was ok on PS4, but a bit dull after a while, so Might look into Frost (recommended by Vitras as well). i tried grakata and karak on PS4 and enjoyed both, but I'll road test the boltor here, see how I like it.

Built a Boltor prime, and it absolutely is everything everyone said it was. Great weapon, already levelled and forma'd once, though I'm not having much luck with useful mod drops, it's still outstanding with what I've cobbled together, but hopefully I can get a serration and split chamber soon.

 

Started out with Valkyr, and picked up Frost Prime parts and eventually got it built. I've enjoyed frost a lot more than I did rhino/Valkyr though I have to say. Valkyr is pretty unkillable sometimes, but I found Frost much handier for capture with his #1 power. Power 2/3 helped a lot during survivals/normal runs as well. Havent used his ult much, but ability 1-3 have had a fair bit of play.

 

Thanks again everyone for your advice, thoroughly enjoying playing through the planets slowly unlocking everything with or without a team around. Team is better , but doesn't seem to be a lot of folks around for many of the missions.
