magusat999
I was thinking there could be something that reminded people before they make that trolling, flaming, mini-modding, nazi-grammar policing, bullying, belittling, demeaning, hi-jacking - any offensive or otherwise rule breaking post that there are community rules they (we) should consider. Not everyone reads the rules every time they post things (well almost nobody) - I think a gentle reminder in the underutilized space could help us all be more mindful of being respectful to one another - which is becoming a major issue around here. Here is an example of a possible implementation: So that the rule or any other communication is there right before someone clicks on it. There's no guarantee that they will follow the rules even if reminded at the time of posting - but its that much less likely than not telling people anything and waiting until they have already broken the rules to address it. At least it can be pointed out that the offender must have been aware of the rule because they had to interact with it in order to take an action. I would actually go so far as to give people an agreement prompt before submitting (Are you sure? etc.) - but that's just me.
Muffle
Self-control is all that's needed. People without it will be banned.
magusat999
Self-control is all that's needed. People without it will be banned. People can't control themselves without knowing the rules. Making the rules clear and apparent is the only way to help people "control themselves". And there is a rule structure - just saying "Self-control" is arbitrary and subject to self interpretation. No, it needs to be laid out and sometimes hammered in at every opportunity.
izzatuw
No. That's literally just a part of Rebecca's post. I think it should happen to people that have gained 1 or 2 warning points. Would end up seeming annoying
(PSN)IIIDevoidIII
Honestly, I think the little rule message at the very top of the page should be enough.
magusat999
Well you guys seem to be civilized - there are some people who do not have the civility that you folks have (or "Self Control"). For example - someone who disagrees with my idea and cannot stop at just disagreeing (in an intelligent, thoughtful manner), they tack on insults - which is totally uncalled for and unnecessary. "I don't think people need reminders, dork". Or indirect insults - "That's a stupid idea, only a moron would come up with that..." . Well, that really has nothing o do with the reminder idea (except that a person would see it before posting such comments) but its the kind of comments a lot of people are posting and a way for them to "insult without insulting".
