This topic... confuses me.

Ballistica is okay. Mid tier but low damage unless charged.

As for as Drakgoon vs. Phage, it really depends on your playstyle as they are polar opposites for shotguns. Both are surprisingly effective at long range though.

What this guy said.

I much prefer Drakgoon personally, and it serves me really well wherever I take it. Phage is really good and fun too, but it's just preference. As for Ballistica, I think I have...2 Forma on mine? It hits really hard but is outclassed by some weapons. It is really fun, though.

I think I'll go with Drakgoon, seems like a real fun weapon to throw flak everywhere that can bounce and be charged.  I mgiht hold off on Ballistica for now... Gotta finish ranking up my Stug. :P

Sounds like a good plan. Enjoy Drakgoon, it is incredibly fun with the right mods. (I recommend Hell's Chamber if you've got it)

Got Hell's Chamber from a great clanmate who gave me it!  Can't wait to punch holes in enemies!

Any other mods I should have for it?

Hmm, pretty much anything that increases rate of fire and damage. RoF increases how quickly you can concentrate your shots AND how quickly you can fire them.

Btw, vicious spread has no negative impact on its spread, so that's a great way to boost your damage with no drawbacks.

Same thing applies with Phage and vicious spread, but try to do everything you can to decrease it's rate of fire. Mine does constant damage and only consumes one ammo per 3 seconds. It's incredible.

I've got accelerated blast and tainted shell.  Not sure if tainted shell is good, but could be fun to have more accurate shots with it and turn Drakgoon into a shotgun sniper with more ammo that has innate punch through. XP

Actually, the spread on Drakgoon and Phage are both static. Your mods can't affect them for better or worse. One shotty that is brutal with Tainted Shell is the Hek. It turns into an almost pinpoint sniper/shotty combo. Toss Tainted Shell on Phage if ever you get it though, it makes it so much more efficient at killing.

I find the Ballistica awkward to use. The charged shot flies straight but doesn't quite match up with the reticule; you need to aim to the left and above the target's head if you want to headshot. The uncharged shots cause horizontal recoil and make aiming difficult when you're moving around. Also the gun sounds like you're shooting balls of foam. I think my biggest issue with it is the dual-firing mechanic, which often causes a delay between burst uncharged shots because of the charge shot buffer.

Phage and Drakgoon are quirky favorites of mine. They operate so differently that it really comes down to personal taste.

Both work great with Mirage, by the way.

Fun Fact: Drakgoon and Phage are the only primary shotguns with no fall off damage.

Not quite true. TT/VS will affect spread, its just not much on the Drakgoon and Phage can be focused so it doesn't really matter.

You'll want to use Shotgun Spazz and/or Accelerated Blast on the Drakgoon and use charged attacks. Spam attacks seem to not work very well past a pretty limited range.
