Hey guys,

Been a while since my last personal view has been added on to the forums, feel free to disagree.

However I have been active and I thought about this for a while:

 

We have attachments and various other things for our customization.

Why can't the enemy have the same?

 

Here is what they can have randomized:

-Patterns

-Body parts (applies to Grineer more)

-Colors (not too much to confuse you about what type of enemy it is but small tints)

-Helmets

-Attachments

    -Dangly bits

    -Armor pieces

    -Extras (such as headsets (communications), ranks, medals, emblems of their own etc)

-Face types

-Skin tones (would love to see a wider variety here)

-Scars, tattoos, a mix of both

 

 

What do you guys think?

It can start off small and yes it does require some work but it pushes the enemy variety based on a simplistic system :)

+1. But for the colors part, I think different enemies on different tile-sets should have skins unique to the tilesets. Like the Grineer on Phobos could be have a tan/brown skin, and the Corpus on the upcoming ice tileset should have a white/blue one.

Sounds cool, too much variety and in colors and whatnot, and it would make the Grineer seem like they're not an army or make the Corpus not seem like they're basically an American corporation (evil, corrupt, exploitative, etc.)... :)

 

And they should avoid dangly bits to keep their ratings in line for public consumption. ;)

Patterns and colors may be a bit tricky, since some of them look alike a lot more, while certain others already have different head gears (scorch/trooper, Arid, etc). However, if done right, it will still be fine.

 

I'm mostly supporting the idea of more different gear, like the armor pieces you mentioned, and focusing on Grineer silhouette differences instead, so that even with different gears, you'll know quickly that it's an Elite Lancer and not a Trooper.

Hmm, maybe for Grineer but infested can certainly go crazy as can other/future factions and even sub-factions (eg. Salad V or Frohd Bek making their own stuff)

i had an idea about patterns, there are the simple ones of staying far and sniping and rushing forward and all of those but some enemies have potential to be smarter, like ancient healers can hide somewhere and keep the enemies healed without us knowing where they are, which had happened to me but only when they got stuck, maybe enemies that are crouching and trying to minimize their hitbox while others try to move a lot while shooting, to avoid getting hit, this is an awesome concept,

Yeah, Infested can go crazy as it doesn't seem like they're really supposed to be uniform and are more of an organic entity. Heh, just what the Infested need... Ancients with dangly bits to go along with their tentacles and aura bukkake.

 

But yeah, different regional/sub-faction differences would be cool.

Having a bunch of randomized prosthetics for Grineer would be awesome. Have the default for every type of Grineer be a stripped down version of what each model is, no prosthetics, just real limbs, and give prosthetic slots for all limbs, with multiple for each slot. Special units could have their own, such as heavy gunners having the large inflated thing on their back.

There's been a number of other games that do this, adding slight variations to the same model so you don't see the same exact enemy 50 times, so I'm all for it. Hell, even if they just made five different looks for each randomized bit (which isn't too much work), that would already offer a pretty good amount of visual diversity. Until this actually becomes a thing though, we'll just have to make do with Grineer helmet swaps.

You're thinking about actual enemy types, which the game does need more of, but this post is about visually randomizing what the enemies look like so we don't see the same ones repeatedly in the same mission. Maybe one MOA could have some discolored panels on its legs due to repairs, but another could be battle-scarred with missing armor and bullet holes. One Grineer soldier might have a canteen and backpack that each flop around as he walks, but another is a veteran with special painted markings to indicate his rank, additional armor bits (of higher visual quality compared to standard armor), and a special helmet to indicate that he's a badass.

 

The possibilities are endless when it comes to making enemies look like they actually exist and didn't just respawn for the 20th time.

Accidentally +1'd but then realized we can't have different faces cause all Grineer are filthy clones :D But different faces for Corpus would work

Hey they're soldiers right? Therefore wounds can also be common... Scars,bandaid on their armor, bullet impacts on the armor... And different faces too : grineer clones may have more than 2 or 3 guys as a cloning reference...

 

About enemy variety, there also is a lot of field to be made : more corrupted enemies versions, more elite units(we only got an elite lancer right now),more melee units & snipers,Corpus outpost enemies,enemies of the tenno submissions, enemies equipped with some weapons we got in the market (a corpus with Serro or a magnus)... Plenty of possibilities! D.E. please...

Yep! I'd honestly love to see some stuff like this, maybe some Grineer will go without masks and maybe some will wear something on them.

 

Tattoos can also be interesting, however maybe on some sidefaction or miniboss. Would love to see some interesting minigunners for once <:O
