Grineer Hellion Op?

Question

Is anyone else (who is new to the game, like me) having issues soloing against Hellions? (If you don't recognize the name, they're Grineer soldiers that can fly and shoot volleys of missles at you) It seems everytime I get hit by a blast, I get knocked down (I can understand that) but then the enemy just locks into a loop of shooting MORE volleys and so I get stuck, floored, and inevitably die/fail.

Is there any easy-ish way to help this? The maps I tend to get don't provide decent cover, and being indoors/under cover doesn't help cause they just land, then start shooting them at ground level.

don't worry your not alone....the knock down from the blast plus the grineers bleed and puncture procs make it so annoying and deadly no matter how long you've played ;_; just wait till you get to phobos

a bit of advise: if you manage to kill them during there missile attack, they will stop shooting(because there dead :P) but you'll have to dodge the remaining missiles shot before its death

yes there are some tough enemys in the game you just need to deal with. Once you have better gear well you can one shot them all

There should be decent delays in the volley of missiles.  Are you saying they are firing rapidly, because if they are then it sounds like a bug.

Unfortunately, the missiles have travel time. This means by the time the first volley has hit, the next is already on the way. This is very confusing for many players, who either try to wait for all the missiles to stop and miss their chance to kill the Hellion or are unable to compensate for the travel time and are repeatedly hit by the missiles.

Experiment with your frame, a number of abilities prevent knockdown.

For example as Nekros I Desecrate as they launch a volley, so I don't get knocked down, and can kill them before second volley.

Also try rolling as the missiles approach.

Good luck.

They're actually not too bad, but I also wasnt a new player when they were introduced to the game, so my advice would be to make sure you're leveling up your shield mod (redirection), try using the frames abilities, like pull or crush for mag, radial blind or radial javelin for Excalibur, or overload for volt. You should level and ditch your mk-1 weapons asap and get a karak or paris bow or boltor.

Whilst aiming you can press the run button to dodge out of the way. (might be the same combo for the xbox version as for the pc but I'm not sure.)

I find dodging left and right the best way to avoid the volleys. Getting behind things and taking cover can sometimes save you some problems.

I do get where you're coming from. Their knockdowns are a pain in the &#!.

I think Hellions could afford to either have their damage or blast proc chance reduced. Even on Earth a low level Hellion could easily keep you on the floor and burn through a well seasoned frame's shields relatively quickly, let alone a new player. Throw in some Lancers and Troopers and even a single Hellion could be death trap if you're caught off guard. That missile volley should focus on either CC or damage, because both can be a bit excessive at times.

There are a couple of counters:

1. Be on the move. All Frames run faster than missiles, so if you can get the missiles to fly into a wall or cover, you should be fine.

2. While swinging a melee weapon, you cannot be knocked down.

3. While blocking, you cannot be knocked down. Damage will also be mitigated.

4. Some Frames can move aggro, knock the Helions out of the air, put up defenses, stun the Helions, and use other abilities. For a starter, Shock can stun them in the air, while Bullet Attractor makes their missiles go back on them and Radial Blind stuns them.

5. The jetpack falls off with one attack. It will rocket into a wall and explode so be careful, but this pretty much turns Helions into Lancers.

They jump in the air, take cover, when the explosions are done, aim for the face, or the jetpack.

Nothing will top the grineer difficulty of having a few napalm units on you.  The Napalm puts cover on fire... heck it will go thought the inner edge of a Frost snowglobe.  And most people don't move away from the fire when they are downed, making it incredibly difficult to revive them.

Not asking for nerfs, but Hellions are bees comparison to Napalm.
