New Use For Resource Extractors (Maybe New Game Mode)

I just watched latest devstream with the birdstuff, and perhaps it could be interesting to apply extracting resources as game mode. It works like this:

Liset release extractor(s), they attach themselves to nearby asteroid and begin mining. Grineer/Corpus will show up, and they be like 'this is our stuff, prepare to die'. In following fight, Tenno have to defend extractors until they reach limit. Perhaps it can be also done in rounds, similar to defence, having to fly full extractors to Liset, empty loot and fly to other perspective areas.

What do you think?

 

There are lot of options how to add complexity to this. If you are carrying extractor back to liset, you have limited speed and perhaps also maneuverability, so you need escort. Or just your firepower is limited to sidearm, similar when you carry datams.

If extractor gets destroyed you need to get new one from liset and all collected resources are lost. Perhaps, leaking and graduate lost of content could be interesting.

Round is finished when you collect 100% of the goal, while full extractors yield 15-20% of that goal.

I like it. A little rough and could be refined for complexity. But it's a great concept that seems like it would fit. 

 

Are you flying the Archwing to defend extractor? Archwing encumbrance maxed when carrying extractor back to Liset? If so could make co-op a bit more viable in this mode, where teammates should defend the one carrying extractor.

We already have Defense, M. Defense, Excavation, Rescue, Usurpation, all of those modes are about defending something... I don't think adding yet another defense type mision is what we need.

 

What could be good is, you need to go and search for resources, collect them but as you advance you encounter enemies' extractors, if you want to collect those resources too, you need to destroy those extractors and that would alert enemies so you need to fight for the "right" to extract in those spots.

Each extractor you destroy makes harder enemies to show. You can spend time on the mision without fighting and just searching for resources not being extracted by enemies, but if you want those resources (better and in high amounts) you can just destroy their extractors and fight.

Maybe each 5 extractors destroyed you could get a reward like in survivals, so the longer you stay collecting and fighting, the better rewards you'll get.

 

It would be something like this:

 

 

1- Find free spots to extract (These will have less resources each).

2- Find enemies' extractors.

3- Destroy them, enemies will be alerted.

4- Fight until you destroy every enemy.

    4a- The more players in the group, the more enemies will apear each time.

5- Now you can extract in that spot (These will have more and better rewards).

6- Each 5 extractors destroyed you get a reward like in survivals.

7- You need to destroy at least 5 extractors or alternatively collect from 10 free spots to be able to finish the mision but you can stay and keep collecting or fighting if you want.

(Optional)8- Maybe when you're going to finish the mision, enemies will try to stop you, and depending on the amount of damage you receive, you can lose some of the extracted resources.

 

I think something like this would add variety instead of adding yet another defense type mision.
