Back To School: Eurasia; Feels Like A Bit Much.

I've tried to do the Eurasia alert several times, with several different frames - though mostly Frost Prime, as he's pretty much the best frame for dealing with 'keep this one spot from getting damaged by ranged enemies.' Hate the frame, really, but he's good at that.

Every single time, I get No Shield Mode; not sure if that's intended or just bad luck. In my opinion, this is the worst effect, as it takes half the built-in survival mechanisms away from the player and renders the entire mission an endurance trial, if you don't have a health-restoring option. It also renders a potentially large number of mods completely pointless to have slotted.

In mobile missions, this can occasionally be interesting, as it requires you to be more aware of your environment and cover options. I think that's probably the point.

In a ten-wave static Defense, though? This is ridiculous. You spend the whole thing surrounded, being attacked from every angle, while also trying to keep the Artifact from being destroyed, and if you happen to not notice a single Butcher run up behind you while you're dispatching a soaring Hellion, you're going to die nearly instantly - Frost took two hits. Frames I like better took one.

Maybe I keep getting Extra Damage mode, too, and it just doesn't tell me; Steel Fiber certainly doesn't seem to be helping.

Against a horde of Nightmare Grineer, especially including Hellions and their grenade barrage, I've not even managed to make it through the first of the ten waves. Not because the objective goes down, but because there are simply so many bullets flying around, originating from already-tough Nightmare Mode enemies, that I simply cannot not get perforated. Use the Snowglobe? Works until a Hellion bombards it and kills you through it with the shockwaves. Or just knocks you down, at which point one of the seemingly numberless Butchers will run up and cleaver you to death.

This just really feels like a bit too much. I'd actually been looking forward to this event, as it would've been the first time I'd ever gotten Hammershot; I have terrible luck with drops and rewards. Instead, this has just been disheartening.

I'd suggest...I don't know. Switch the Nightmare Mode effect(s), if it's always going to be the same one(s)? I've already decided that it's just not worth it, so I'm not going to bother, and I'm sure there's going to be a bunch of people going 'we love this mission, you're stupid,' but...this feels like something that should be taken a look at.

if i were you id organize a group

rhino+ iron skin for the tank and save......valkyr warcry for increased armor and occasionally hysteria save.....oberon or trin for heals.....nova to slow everyone down so they dont kill you as fast

nightmares are tough if you arent properly trained to do them

@ Jacker: Yeah, there's just...not enough Energy to keep a CC chain going in all directions, especially against Hellions.

@ Evanescence: I don't think that'd be able to kill quickly enough to keep the objective up for ten waves.

@ Knot, Seku: I don't have Trinity, and, since I notice you were in a team... My internet connection is...it's bad. And there's nothing I can do about it, especially since it seems to be worst when playing Warframe. Playing Warframe with other people is an experience much akin to a fever-dream, due to the amount of lag. Usually, I can solo Nightmare mode missions just fine, but I only do mission types where you're able to really move, without having to worry about some static objective and being able to actually prevent yourself being surrounded.

@ Lactamid: Agreed.

It's not that bad to run solo with a Nyx (full disclosure, my Nyx is a forma monster, max range, min duration etc) and a semi auto 1 shot weapon. If you have a brakk or detron as secondary, it makes it even easier to run sweep up around the objective if it gets tight.

Yeah, a lot of things are 'tough' without a team. Most of them, you can overcome by just improving, but this is...I don't think it can be soloed.

Edit: And of course somebody has apparently soloed it. ... With a frame I don't have and a hefty investment into it. Congratulations on soloing it.

Oh. Well, I guess I'll try it again. Thanks for the quick response. ... And for a response at all. Hm.

Edit: Okay, yeah, this is actually doable.

Guess the system decided that, since there was a Nightmare Mod as a reward, the Alert was also Nightmare Mode. It is now not.

Yup absolutely, this has been changed serverside on all platforms. Some unintentional difficulty snuck in, congrats to anyone who beat that. Relog to receive intended difficulty.

Hmm, I found it ok, but I can see where newer players would feel the pain (mostly it's all gear/mod selection, things that time improves with luck).

It's nice to see you monitor the situation, although a lot of people may have found the difficult version more fun.

you even have a loki avatar: equip stretch, overextend and fleeting expertise, use some of that radical disarm, done.

Pretty much this, I literally just ran Disarm with melee and invis on loki and it was nice and easy. That said its nice to see it get a bit of a nerf, would be very difficult for newer players and not everyone has a loki. Not even sure how well Frost would cope under that amount of fire. Reasonably well i suspect but not as well as loki with max range.

My Rhino Prime got hit, his Iron Skin went down, and by the time I had it up again I was down to 29 HP. Scary stuff.

I seriously enjoyed it, though. It required good team work, and we made it.

But I am glad to hear that this was not intended - I was already slightly worried about tomorrow.

Yup, I'm inclined to agree there is a place for that degree of "OMG" but I don't think back-to-school alerts is it!

Just wondering , is it not possible to set difficulty depending on the :

Conclave rating?

Time played ?

Mastery rank ?

So maybe you can set difficulty difference for old and news players?

But... hang on a second. Was the problem that enemies were spawning at level 31? But... But that's normal for a nightmare mode mission. Enemies have a chance to spawn with a level "higher than normal" (so says the wiki). I can confirm by sheer experience, unless they chanced something I'm not aware of between U14-U14.5. I completed the other 2 alerts for today and they both were lvl 30+, no-shield nightmare missions (not that my 4-formad vauban had troubles cc'ing anything to death).

I'm moderately confused now. I will release the tension by reformaing for the 7th time my kraken.

Woot. But Energy Vampire is the absolutely worst effect. A game with no shield is kinda fun, since you need some caution, skill and teamwork. But a game with no abilities is simply dull and boring.
