Update:

Stay tuned for 14.6.1 where the changes are reverted overall until we can review and explore issues further change attempts.

Dearest Tenno,

Last evening Excalibur’s Radial Blind received a change that impacted the effectiveness of this ability. This was quickly noticed by our players, and we have an update this morning on the status of Radial Blind.

Firstly, we apologize this wasn't in the notes, it was not intended to go out as it was an experiment in balancing Radial Blind.
Secondly, Radial Blind will be changed to blind any enemies aware of player within the radius. Enemies behind walls/obstructions will not be affected since they were smart enough to avoid the blind!

The next hotfix will bring this change to life, sorry for the frustration this slip has caused. We’re working to get it out as soon as we can!

so that means, at the very least, a Grineer lancer in front of me won't block that Heavy Gunner behind him from being blinded?...

At least for the Grineer, I won't be surprised if I can't blind a lot of them considering how often they go for cover...but will the code, at the very least, include Grineer "in hiding" but has their head so obviously sticking out that not scoring a headshot with any weapon is nearly impossible?

So not only is the nerf on purpose, it's actually worse than we realized. I really wish I knew you were going to do this before I spent a week and 4 forma upgrading this frame.

RIP Excalibur

Well if the change is supposed to work as how it is stated then it is perfectly fine now.

I would like to point out that this is pretty much the first time Excalibur has had anything changed about him. Until now, he was the only old frame that hadn't had anything changed or balanced one way or the other.

Not saying it's bad, just interesting. I always thought of Excalibur as the baseline for balancing because of this.

Thanks for the clarification Megan. Are we to expect more balance changes for ults, especially the room clearing kind?

Excalibur was not exactly known as a powerhouse, so I'd imagine this isn't an isolated experiment.

well, "good news/bad news" answer

kind of makes sense with real life physics, will have to try the new skill but end of glorious CC days for excalibur I guess

real life physics aren't part of this game, why should excal be one of the few things that follow those rules? game logic is powered by space magic.

Man so glad we have that whole communicating major nerfs/balance changes before actually doing them. So glad to see communication alive and well.

/endsarcasm

EDIT: Also what gives with being so washy washy on what get's effected by physics and what doesn't. Why does stuff like zorencopter get the stamp of approval but a mediocre frame like Excals blind is considered too physics breaking?

This to me seems like a slap on the face not only to the tons of players who spent a lot of time and effort to max Excalibur just for this 4th ability. It seems offensive to the Founders, because other than a cool badge they got an Excalibur Prime useful in late game just because of this ability. Now they really can walk around with a tshirt saying "I was a Founder in Warframe and all I got is this lousy T-shirt".

So hiding in cover they avoid the blind, fair enough. But what about when they are standing in a line? Or behind say knee high cover? I've seen some ridiculously unfair things happening from this nerf.

Also, GG on taking Excals only useful skill and making it about as good as the rest of his set.

But thanks for at least clearing up if it was a bug or not.

>_>

Edit: P.S. DE, you just gave your founders the finger with this one.
