not to be rude, but if you've spent that much money in the game, you aren't being very frugal in how you're spending it.

i've spent a total of $30 (founder pack)

since then i've acquired all my platinum in-game by trading.

i've probably made 1500+ platinum in trades.

i have everything in the game. all warframes (prime included) all weapons (prime included) all mods, all kubrow, all sentinels.

and everything that i wanted to keep, is supercharged.

stop buying weapons / warframes with platinum, and start building them with resources. stop rushing things. be patient.

stop buying mods with platinum unless you've spent more time trying to farm it than you're willing.

it sounds to me like you're not patient enough to play the game and, instead, are spending platinum to bypass the effort required to do it the other way.

that, sir, is a choice you are making. you are by no means forced into it.

so... like i said before.

less hyperbole, more patience.

that would be because a so called founder told me this is a good deal and this is a good deal and then left with out explaining how it all worked. So in the long run I bought a bunch of crap not know what I really needed. And honestly people in this game are more dishonest than crack dealers. A crack dealer will tell you this is crack and its worth 50$. People on this game say heres a mod. It's 500p. When in fact it was worth 5! Get the point.

SO because of a few bad apples and your failure to do a bit of research you have dicided to blame everyone else and get mad at DE for allowing a few rare mods to be easily obtained?

Seems legit.

I put 20 bucks into this game (points to badge to left) last holidays for a job well done for DE, and that's about it. No trades, just spending plat on slots and 1 syandana for swag. The only other mandatory piece for plat spending is potatoes, and those come in via alerts/invasions probably more often than they should if any other F2P game is to be believed. You are simply doing something wrong if you've spent 350 bucks already and don't feel like you have what you need.

i get that you've had some bad experiences with the community and have been taken advantage of.

and i feel sorry for you about that.

but blaming DE for that isn't at all fair.

i'll agree that the trading system could use some serious work, but it's more-or-less functional.

i take exception to your comment about the overall attitude of traders in the game however.

i'm very fair in my trades. even going so far as to give away lots of items. (especially to new players)

there are bad apples in every community, but you really should gain a bit of perspective about this.

calm down a bit and think about it from a more long-term attitude.

in two months, you'll have thousands of new players and returning players back in the game that weren't here for these alerts.

feel free to sell them your spares at that point and recoup some of your losses.

in the mean time, go farm some items. sell those.

patience is key in this game. really.

i have a dozen catalysts and reactors just sitting currently because i have no use for them at the moment.

i have hundreds of spare rare mods & void keys.

i play maybe an hour a day. (sometimes more, sometimes less)

i've been playing a year. (to the day actually. started 9/13/2013)

don't expect to "win" warframe in a few months. it takes effort and time.

1) The trade system is FLAWLESS in that it forces everyone to agree twice with full visibility. If you make trades you don't understand or regret that's not DE's fault. No trade system could prevent your errors. Not to offend, but to inform.

2) The Back To School week includes a Catalyst and two Forma...

I will say this for OP: If DE is not going to do coupons for PS4 (they don't get the discount logins right?) they should give some consideration to trade. Lack of coupons means less plat in circulation as well as more need for trade to retain players. I don't really want to get behind OP on a lot of these comments and finger pointings but the issue is real I think.

I have already beat this game. Fact is I did like it. I wanted to make more characters and rank and upgrade them. But I shouldn't have to constantly drop cash for plat everytime I build a new warframe. If catalysts and reactors would drop in alerts on a regular basis then it wouldn't be an issue. Everyone seems to think DE wouldn't survive if plat was account bound but they would. People would still rush warframes and weapons not to mention kubrows. I'm just saying if your giving the best stuff away for free that is putting a hit on the trade system have a way for us to get the things we need so I don't has to sell a kidney to keep enjoying the game.

This...rage...everywhere :P

Ok, so I'm going to start by agreeing with xethier in that patience will get you farther if you are willing to wait. I've only spent $10 on this game so far and most of the stuff I need is coming to me gradually. At most, from these alerts, you missed out on what? 80 plat? Maybe a bit more? That's just like two to four weeks of wait time since reactors and catalysts show up every now and then (although I do have to admit, catalysts seem more common than reactors). And you can sell prime parts easily at low prices and still afford the reactors/catalysts if you are willing to pay for them instead of waiting it out for those alerts. Honestly, all you need plat for is slots. All the mods and upgrades you can get gradually with time and events...unless you're super into cosmetics. I mean, if you are paying that much for this game, which as a reminder is still in beta phase, it was your choice and your choice only. Blaming a company doing their job and being friendly to players is just...wut bruh? 0.o

Destroying the market economy for these mods hurts Digital Extreme's plat revenue more than anything, due to less demand and thus less plat flow, complimented by less incentive to charge plat to buy said mods.

Yet they're doing it anyways because people have whined about farming over and over. Appeasing the whiny people.

If anything you should be grateful if you didn't have it before. If you've had all three (all stance mods in general actually) for a long period of time, it doesn't take away anything from the mods you have. They function the same, look the same, and are literally the same as before.

I've bought 15 dollars of slots to get started and besides that not spent a single penny on this game. I've gotten these "rare" mods without farming for them by simply selling things I didn't need and taking that platinum and buying them. I'm still sitting on 600 platinum even after having enough slots for 12-13 warframes and something like 20-30 weapons.

You don't need to sell a kidney to enjoy this game. You don't even have to be that patient. With practice you learn to understand how the market economy in this particular game works. Compared to other F2P games, getting the rare things takes way less time, since power progression is obscenely fast in this game, and then add to the fact that there are no dungeon lock-outs and most things on the player to player market is dirt cheap.

I hardly think that prices dropping on a few mods for the next month or so will affect revenue in any meaningful way. Prime parts and kubrow prints are still selling, and there's a dozen other overpriced stances for people to farm and sell.

The wrong ones apparently.

I'm not a crack expert, but I don't think crack dealers are known for their fair market prices.

you don't have to drop cash for platinum every time you build a new warframe. patience. wait for that alert or event and get one for free.

catalysts and reactors DO drop in alerts on a pretty regular basis. (at least two a month, more when events roll around)

DE would probably make every bit as much money if platinum were account bound.

But it would probably have less players overall. And people would be screaming P2W constantly about the lack of being able to acquire slots without paying. (and they'd have a point) -- DE is (i feel) doing the community a service by allowing that.

As for the in-game economy... DE could probably care less. It doesn't really matter to them what the platinum trading costs are. They've already made their money. (the moment that platinum was purchased)

only problem i had with these alerts is that i literally bought bite from someone for 80p only to have it show up as an alert reward 2 days later. i never thought id see something like that as an alert reward.

other than that im kinda glad to see these come out as rewards. now people can go do other missions and enjoy the game instead of of farming a boring mission for a mod that is rarely seen outside transmute (if they were the kind of person to farm that much anywho.)

yup and your probably one of the guys who charges 500p for a maxed mod and fact is I could probably still whoop you one on one in pvp. I play the game. Not spend all my time ripping people off.

I lol'd

Oh... and btw:

I am successfull at dealing because I sell my stuff for less than it's worth. The customers are usually re-sellers who will then buy more than one of the same mod.

Same goes for Kubrow imprints. Never sold one for more than 100 plat.

And about the pvp thing:.. eheh... eheheheheheh XDDDD

Wondering if it will actually BOOST future trading on the Xbox One front... every week 1-2 adopters get some of the rares which are clearly in demand given the reaction on the forums here. That means weve something people who pick up the game a couple of weeks later will want in the very near future... i think thats a good thing and i see it personally as a thank you from the Xbone side of things for being there at the start because this game is gonna have legs to run a long distance as it will only get bigger and improve more. Weve missed a lot it seems (ive been digging deep on all thats transpired before the game was released on Xbone) but this is a cracking start and lets be honest people would have been PISSED if it was say just PS4, XBOX ONE or PC that got these and not the rest. Way more i would wager would be raging on here than those a little peeved at some of their trades not being the same value they were.

Screw trade.

Screw your markets, screw your platinum, and screw the clan-based system.

These Back-to-School Alerts are exactly the sort of thing DE should be doing all the time, but much less frequently; put a finger on the pulse of the game, figure out where some weaknesses are in the drop system, and nudge them with some well-placed Alerts.

Gleaming Talon's availability has been particularly abysmal and, frankly, bullS#&$.  Three weapons use one available stance, and that stance drops from a rare-ish enemy that can't be Desecrated?  Gee, thanks.

I reiterate: trade can go to hell.

Yeah and at 70 Platinum for 5$ isn't expensive. I've already dropped a pot load of money in this game. So much I should have to spend more on platinum or become another media $?#&$ to get free stuff that should akready be available in game. Forma blue prints drop in game all the time. Why not reactors or catalysts?

Plat is overpriced because of discounts. Which I personally despise, since they add yet another layer of RNG to the game, but the rest of the community seems to love them. If you buy with anything less than a 50% discount, you're doing it wrong.
